Cyber Monday is a time to take advantage of all sorts of sales, not just related to online sales, but also for local attractions with discounted membership rates and ticket deals. Obviously, this year is a bit different with many of these locations still closed, but we did find some deals to share with you all. These locations really need our support, too, as memberships will help them when they are all struggling so much!
We love the idea of giving a gift of an experience as this is a gift that keeps on giving throughout the year! Even better, many of the zoos, museums and more participate in a reciprocal relationship with nationwide zoos, museums, etc – so that if you purchase a membership, you could get free or discounted admission to participating zoos, museums & more around the country. My family has taken advantage of this a number of times and it has saved us quite a bit of money.

We used this one a few years ago & actually got free tickets to the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry – it was less expensive to buy the family membership than it was to buy the 1 day tickets for our family in Chicago. Love that reciprocal membership!

I’m not feeling the Pacific Science Center deal. As an existing member, I always renew on Cyber Monday for the 10% off, free movie passes and $10 gift shop credit. This year I get nothing unless I buy a gift membership for someone else or upgrade my membership. I use my membership to get discounts on the great traveling exhibits that they host (examples: Harry Potter/Star War props and costumes, Treasures of King Tut, Pompeii, terra cotta army); between that an IMAX show or two and it usually pays for itself. Last year they didn’t have anything like that and I ended up not going once. I don’t see anything on the calendar for 2019 either, so I think I might just not renew.
Tom – I wonder if they aren’t doing as many specials nowadays because they have offered a very minimal price to families that wouldn’t originally be able to go (and possibly hurting financially a bit) due to that. Makes me sad because it seemed like good deal in the past but not so much anymore.
Tom – I would definitely encourage you to contact the Pacific Science Center to give them your feedback on the offer. It is very helpful for businesses to hear from customers about promotions like this, so I definitely think it would be worthwhile to contact them.
