Spring Break Outfits

Spring Break Outfits 2024 – ALL Picks Under $35 Each Too!

We are getting ready to head out on a cruise this Spring Break. It will be the first cruise for my teens and I needed to find some vacation worthy items to make this trip special. Since I had already spent money on vacation, I was looking for fun styles I could get my teens to wear, that we would feel good in, on a budget. I did not want to sacrifice style and quality though, and that meant checking out some of the current options on Walmart. Walmart has really been stepping up their fashion game, and I found some of my very favorite spring pieces on Walmart this year. We needed a mix of both casual items, beach wear and pieces that would transition to regular spring outfits when we got back from vacation, and came up with these Spring Break outfits. All of the pieces were under $35 each when we bought them too. Hard to believe, but true!

Living in the Pacific Northwest, Spring Break is something my teens and I always look forward to. We love to head somewhere sunny, to get caught up on some Vitamin D, and refreshed. However, we will still be heading back to the Northwest after vacation, so I look for transitional pieces that work in different kinds of weather. That will be needed on the cruise, as well as back at home. That meant some versatile items (as we are headed to the carribean and it will be warm there) as well as some things to keep us warm in the evenings and on travel days.

I found so many really fun trends on Walmart, at prices that worked for me. I wanted to share some of those with you. Finding them and trying them on to make sure they have a great fit is half the battle, so we have done that work to share here. These are all spring fashion trends that I felt like worked for real women, and I share pictures of what they look like in real life, to help you determine if they might be a good fit for you too.

Spring Break 2024 – All Picks $35 or LESS!

Here are some of mine and my teens favorite spring fashion trend picks we grabbed on Walmart. They are both stylish and affordable. The thing I like the most about these trends is that they transition easily from Spring Break vacation wear, into everyday spring outfits once you return from vacation. The other things I always consider about Spring Break outfits, is how well they pack. Depending on where you are going, and your travel style, you will want to consider how bulky your clothes are. I love to travel light (just a carry on suitcase and backpack), so I like clothes that are easily packable personally.

And lets not forget accessories and beauty travel items. Spring Break packing is never complete without these items too, so we share some of our faves in this category as well. Shopping on Walmart has become my first stop for the perfect mix of affordability and style. You will find many of our favorite brands at great prices on Walmart, like Levi, Crocs, Sketchers, Cupshe, and Michael Kors. Plus Walmart has many of their own brands that are really affordable, and mix well with the brands we just mentioned (like Time and Tru, No Boundaries, Trendolyn, Celebrity Pink and many more). The other thing I love is that they always ship quickly, and so I can shop from the comfort of home. Plus, if I need to make a return that process is easy too as I can send back or run into the store to do it, so it allows for more flexibility than many online shopping options.

You do not have to sacrifice style for savings, when shopping these brands. Between my teens and I, we found so many super cute spring clothing styles that you can grab on a budget on Walmart. We have put everything we are wearing in one easy place above, but you will find more details on these items below.

Affordable & Quality Swim Suits

I love to find swim wear under $35, because then I can buy more to diversify my swim collection. Fortunately, Walmart has some of my favorite quality options, easily under that price range these days. My very favorite purchase for our Spring Break trip is this Cupshe ruffled one piece swimsuit. It has been one of the most popular swimsuits we share on Thrifty Norhtwest Mom, and I have been wanting to try it out myself. Spring Break offered the perfect opportunity to do that.

Cupshe ruffle one piece

These Cupshe ruffle one piece suits are seriously the best quality suits for the price I have found, and I am completely in love with this one. It has absolutely become my new favorite, because it provides support and a little disguise in all the areas that I need it. I am of a mature age (over 50), and I felt very comfortable in it. It easily is a style that is perfect for younger women (that is a no-brainer), but I also want to encourage other women that are also of a mature age to try this brand. I thought it provided great support and there are so many styles to pick from. I regularly wear a size 9/10 and the large was a perfect fit.

Coming in at under $35, I do not think I have ever found a suit I liked this much for that price. You can see that there is also the ruching in the mid-section, which I found to be a very flattering look. I have a bit of a tummy, and I was really comfortable in this suit because of the rushing and the tummy control aspect of the suit (and a nice material, not thin).

Here are some more fun styles as ideas!

Plus, Cupshe has a number of other swimsuit styles as well, from bikinis to one pieces, at more low prices to choose from!

Swim Suit Covers

I love a great swimsuit cover up, and two of my favorite trends right now are flowy ones and knit styles. When you are on Spring Break, you want to be able to comfortably walk from your room to the pool, and in style too. That is where the perfect cover up comes in. The other thing I love is that there are so many more options these days. You can find them as pants, kimonos, sarongs or dress styles and more. And they come in great patterns and colors too.

This year I grabbed both this long kimono style from Cupshe here, and these linen pants style from Time & Tru here. I love these because I can easily throw them on with a tank and head from the pool to grab something to eat or drink and not feel under-dressed. Although these are thin, they can easily be worn over your suit into town or an excursion, or whereever your Spring Break might take you that requires swimwear and an outfit over it. I am a 9/10 and a medium was the right size (there is lots of stretch to these so if you are on the fence with sizes order down).

Cargo Styles

You can never go wrong with anything cargo in my world! I love pairing cargo pants with a tank or tee for a casual outfit, or throw an unbuttoned cargo style top over a cami or tank with some shorts and sandals.

I am loving these Celebrity Pink Cargo pants I got for just $18.50 here! I am wearing them in a size 9 (because they run in junior sizes), and they are a very forgiving style (as they have lots of stretch to them). The other thing that I love is that the fabric is light, so much easier to pack then say a jean fabric. They are a nuetral color, and so go with many different top options as well. They are a mid rise pant, so work for lots of different body styles too. These ones are my second very favorite purchase for our Spring Break trip, as they will pair nicely with a tank for warmer days, but are also great to throw a sweater over for cooler nights.

I plan to wear these for my travel day outfit (comfy, can layer with tank and cardigan to transition from our cooler PNW weather to the warmer Miami wearther when we land).

The Perfect Cutoffs – one of my girls has on a pair of Levi cut offs here. Levis are a timeless brand, and my teen loved this pair (it comes in different washes and you can wear them uncuffed for longer shorts, or cuff them up for shorter ones – they are super versatile). She bought a few different styles of the Levi cutoffs for our upcoming Spring Break trip, and they are all adorable on here. I could not be happier with the price we paid (both under $20 each) for the Levi brand. Walmart is the best option we have found for really great daels on this brand!

She is wearing this pair here, and also grabbed a pair of this style. Both pairs are under $20 each! Super price for Levis.

Here are 12 of our favorite Spring Break dress picks for under $30 each (start at under $10)! Regular and plus sized options.

Spring Dresses, The Mini / Midi & Maxi – there are so many options these days for a great casual and comfy looks, as well as styles for all ages and sizes. Grab a t-shirt style mini dress for the day, and accessorize it to go into the evenings. I also love that the mini dress can be flattering on so many different body styles. Grab a shift style if you want less cling, or there are many fitting options too. Plus, this year you will find great styles in Midi and Maxi lenghts as well.

Nuetrals – often times I go for fun colors in spring, after a long winter. But this year basics in black and white can be perfect for teens and really all ages. Plus, there are tons of beautiful neutrals as well as organic materials out this season to choose from. Accessorize with fun jewelry or a pop of colors in your shoes or bag to take the basics to the next level.

One of my teens is wearing the No Boundaries V-Neck top with a pair of cut offs. It was only $7.98 and she loves it. I love this look for her, as not only will she wear it on our trip – but any nuetral pieces will easily transition back into her regular wardrobe to wear year round.

Day of Travel Outfits are All About Layering!

Layering – when traveling from a cooler climate to a warmer climate (which is the case for us coming from the Pacific Northwest), layering is the key! For example, we always layer for our travel days. For us, we are leaving the Pacific Northwest, and traveling to Miami this year. That means it will be cool when we board the plane, and very warm when we get off (and then vice versa). This means that looking for pieces that will work in both climates with a little layering are ideal.

Great layering pieces that also make super cute outfits for Spring Break are bodysuits, cardigans, light hoodies, leggings or linen pants and other lightweight options.

Body Suits –

Body suits are popular right now, and there are lots of options. Find everything from tank styles you can wear under shorts to full body suits to easily pull on and off. Walmart has some very affordable and stylish options for lots of styles. My teens each grabbed a body suit for our coming up Spring Break trip in different styles.

One of my teens is wearing this Sofia Jeans Women’s Sleeveless Sweater Bodysuit, Sizes XS-3XL. Truth be told, my girls fought over this one. One of them ordered it, and then the other one saw it when it came and really wanted it too. There was a little drama in our house about whether they could both buy the same bodysuit – ha! It is seriously a nice thick quality (nothing thin about this one) and super flattering. While it was my teens who found this one, I think it would look great on all ages due to the quality of the material and flattering fit.

Here is my other girl in a full length body suit by Time and Tru for just $12.98 (comes in three different colors). You can pair these unitards with a shrug like my girl has on, or zip hoodies, cardigans and flannels are great options too. They make a fun travel day option, as they are comfy and transition well from cooler wearther (with a sweater over it) to warmer weather when you land, if you are traveling someplace sunny.

And another great layering piece are these Time and Tru longer lace Camis for just $5.98 (I am wearing that above with the cargo pants) and my very favorite ribbed tank tops here for $10.99.

Oversized Clothes – these are still a favorite look for me for Spring Break getaways, as they work for multiple purposes. Throw an oversized shirt or sweater on for a swim cover-up, or wear them over a tank or bikini top with shorts, or dress them up for dinner out. My girls prefer oversized button down shirts, and I love the perfect oversized sweater.

My teens love this Time and Tru button down shirt. It comes in a handful of different colors. She is wearing the blue striped one here. The best part is that it is just $15.98 and this one will get wear year round (and she will throw it over her swim suit too).

Spring Shoe Trends – there are three sandal trends this year that I am particularly in love with — platforms, strappy sandals, and ballet flats! All you need is one pair of each to go with many outfits and occassions.

The key to Spring Break shoes though, is finding ones that will pack and travel well. I grabbed these Time and Tru ballet flats for just $10.98. What I love most about these for Spring Break travel is that they are very easy to pack (let’s be honest – shoes can take up a lot of space in your suitcase and these do not). Plus I can wear them with shorts, a dress or a pants outfit – so they are really versatile. And how can you go wrong at that price for shoes – really? They do fit snug, so if you are between sizes I would size up.

My kids love Crocs year round (and I love them because they work year round). You can learn more about how we save big on Crocs on Walmart here.

Don’t Forget the Accessories –

Accessories are what can really elevate your Spring Break outfits, but they can add up quickly. Here are some of our favorite picks to help you finish off your outfits, without finishing off your bank account!

It will be really hard to beat the Time and Tru brand for stylish, trendy accessory ideas – and at great prices! My teens loaded up on accessories from Time and Tru for just $2 to $5 per item!

I also love easy travel hairstyles. The truth is traveling is all about mixing the cutest styles with the greatest ease of creating them. We want to spend our time having fun, not getting ready. One of things we do to make things quick + easy + stylish when getting ready are simple hair styles. My teens love this TIGI wax stick to create great slicked back bun or pony tail looks. This TIGI Bed Head Hair Wax Stick is a life saver at our house during busy sports seasons, so it was a natural transitiont to pack it for simple but stylish vacation hair styles. My teens love this stuff…and it is seriously a must for simple vacation styles! It is what one of my girls used in the picture above to get that sleek bun in just a few minutes.

This vacation ready Time and Tru floppy hat is one of my favorites…and wait for it….JUST $5! I bought mine last summer, but it is still available at this price, and I will be taking mine on this trip for sure. I love it not only for style, but because it protects me from the sun (I have had a few allergic reactions jumping from our climate to a really hot one in the past) and is great to throw on and not worry about your hair.

For sunglasses, I love that there are options from under $10, as well as designer brands at a great deal.

I did splurge on the Michael Kors sunglasses in the picture above (in the swimsuit) for this years trip, at big savings for this luxury brand, and love them especially! Keep an eye out for some great deals on Michael Kors sunglasses. The pair I got were just $34.98 on sale when I grabbed them. You will find other options on sale here too.

Cobb and Cork on Chuckanut Drive

And these Time and Tru Aviator Style Sunglasses I am wearing here are just $12.97, and always fun to throw on on vacation.

Easily Packable Items –

When thinking about Spring Break outfits, consider these things. Are they…

  • Affordable
  • Easily Packable
  • Flattering Trends That Will Make You Feel Good on Vacation
  • Easily Transition Into My Wardrobe When I Get Back Home

My girls and I felt like the things we grabbed this year hit all these points, and we cannot wait to wear them on our upcoming Spring Break trip.
