Rosemary Chicken Ramen Recipe – Simple Way to Turn Ramen into a Meal!

My kids love Ramen. They love to go to Ramen houses for authenic ramen dishes, and they also love to head to our local asian market and pick out all of their favorite ramen packages. There has been more than once that I have gone to bed with a clean kitchen, only to wake up to ramen bowls, wrappers and used chopped sticks all over the kitchen from their late night ramen fests.

Ramen is also just about the most affordable thing I can add to my pantry to feed the kids when the budget is tight. Over the years we have found lots of ways to add protiens or other healthy options to it, to make it a more fulfilling meal. It is one of my best tricks to stretch the food budget when needed though. My teens just love it, regardless of what the budget is too. If ther eis a sleep over I just have to make sure there is ramen in the house and the kids are always happy and full.

Although the kids are generally happy with a bowl of ramen noodles cooked right from the package, there are some ways that I like to dress it up, to make it more of a meal for me. This Rosemary Chicken Ramen Recipe is an easy way to make it feel like I cooked a full dinner – but is so easy and so affordable. We even share lots of optional ways you can dress it up even more too below.

We also share more ideas on how to turn Ramen into a hearty dinner, if you are looking for more budget friendly recipes. Check out:

Optional Things to Add To This Chicken Ramen Recipe –

One of the things I like about this recipe is the simplicity of it, so I generally keep it simple. But there are lots of ways you can dress it up even more if you want to. Here are some of my favorite ideas.

  • You can add additional rosemary or a lemon slice for garnish to the top of your chicken before serving. You can squeeze a lemon wedge for a light lemon flavor.
  • If you want it to be a bit more authentic, add some extra broth and cut an soft boiled egg in half and add to the top.
  • Instead of using the ramen seasoning packet you can use fresh chicken broth to cook your ramen noodles in and season them with, to make it healthier. You can also add some diced onions and or carrots/peas if you want some veggies with it.
  • You can also use a mushroom flavored Ramen as well. I used 2 thin sliced chicken breasts or you can slice 1 large chicken breast in half lengthwise.
  • If you like Spicy Chicken Ramen you can also use a Spicey Chicken Ramen package, or just add some siracha to your noodles after cooking (to taste). Sprinkle the top of your chicken with a little red pepper flakes while cooking too.

How to Make This Rosemary Chicken Ramen Recipe

This recipe is about one of the simplest ones you can make. Bake up some chicken breast, make some ramen noodles, season it all up and you have dinner. Add some of the other options we mention below if you want it a little more robust, but simple is sometimes best where this recipe is concerned.

Nake sure your have thin chicken breasts (so either buy them that way, pound them down, or cut them in half to make them thinner).

Start by coating your chicken breasts with pepper, garlic, and rosemary and fry in olive oil until no longer pink in the middle and nicely browned on the outside.

While the chicken is cooking, prepare the Ramen noodles by boiling and draining then adding the seasoning packet. Toss until combined.

This is the step where you can alternatively cook the noodles in real chicken stock for a healthier option, if you prefer.

Remove chicken from the pan and slice chicken breasts into slices and serve over the Ramen noodles.

Optional- you can add the remaining oil/drippings from the pan or drizzle a small bit of olive oil over the dish.

Garnish with additional rosemary or a slice of lemon and enjoy.

All that is left now is to enjoy one of the simplest dinners you have cooked in a long time. Although it is simple, it is still packed with lots of flavor and is a real comfort meal.
