A year or two ago, I discovered Hoka shoes & they have been truly the best running / walking shoe I have owned. I have tried a variety of different options but when I kept having major shin pain with my last pair of running shoes even while walking just a mile or so, I went to a local running store, Fleet Feet. They had a specialized “fit specialist” give me their advice for the best shoes & the Hoka shoes were the ones recommended for me. They use specialized technology as well as their expertise to analyze your feet & I was told I had high arches & the Hoka shoes they had me try have seriously been the best shoe for me because of my high arches.
They have a variety of different styles, so you want to make sure you find one that fits you best – but what I love about the Hoka shoes is that they not only have styles perfect for high arches (& have many other options for different feet too), but they also are very light & breathable. So, in my case, the Hoka running shoes I bought have extra cushion & support, but they are still cute shoes, too. Many podiatrists recommend Hoka shoes, too, because of the extra support & cushion they provide for your feet to keep them as healthy as possible. People do mention Hokas for running frequently, but if you’re wondering, “Are Hoka shoes good for walking”? Absolutely yes!! So much support & cushion to keep the leg pain away.
We just got back from a big trip with SO much walking every day & I tried wearing my sandals, which do have a lot of support (my Birkenstock sandals, so they are super comfy), but after a few days, I had to switch to my Hoka womens sneakers because they provided so much extra support for the amount of mileage we were doing a day & it truly felt like walking on air after wearing sandals for days (& this is after 2 years of wearing them – I really need a new pair!)
Where to Buy Hoka Shoes:
There are a number of places you can find Hoka shoes – as I mentioned, I got my first pair of Hoka shoes at a local running store, since they evaluated my foot & suggested the Hoka running shoes for me, so I bought my first pair there. However, there are a number of places you can find Hoka shoes online & we even found some very rare discounts (I paid full price for mine & would buy them again full price because they have been that good for me with no leg/foot pain). But I am all for finding a Hoka sale, so I was excited to find a few places you can find them on sale!
I think one of the most popular Hoka styles is the Hoka Bondi 8Â so we kept our eyes out for the best sales & prices we could find on them, as well as other styles, too.
Zappos:
You can find a wide selection of Hoka running shoes for men & women at Zappos – just make sure to sort by lowest – highest price to see if you can find any on sale. Zappos also offers FREE shipping & FREE returns for a year! So plenty of time to try them out & see how you like them!

REI is another great place to look for Hoka running shoes – right now they are more limited on sale prices on Hoka trail running shoes & Hoka running shoes but they typically have more options. Here are a few options we found::

I honestly had no idea until I started researching this that the store where I bought my Hoka running shoes, Fleet Feet, also has an online store where you can purchase shoes. I found Hoka womens & mens shoes on sale at Fleet Feet, so it’s definitely worth taking a look online to see if you like any there. You could go and get fitted by their fit specialist first & then buy the shoes online from their site if you find them on sale for a better price. They have all sorts of styles such as the Hoka Arahi, Hoka Clifton, Hoka Bondi & more!

Would they work for pickleball?
As a runner is my local Fleet Feet is my go to spot for running shoes because of there return policy. The small business attentiveness and specialized knowledge is so helpful when investing in new running shoes that can be quite costly. They have great staff and rewards when spending!
I’ve worn Hoka for many years. They were first recommended at a running store and I’ve had numerous pairs since. I replace my shoes often due to planters fasiatis but these keep me walking and comfy. Switched from Challenger to a trail style last year for more stability. I buy straight from Hoka.
So glad they have worked so well for you and good to know they are a good shoe for plantar fascitis. My husband has had that in the past & I’ve been trying to get him to try Hokas. I did check the Hoka website, too, but they don’t have as many sales, so i have had good luck buying from Fleet Feet & Dick’s sporting goods for my Hokas to get them at a discount
