The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium will be offering half-priced admission all day on Saturday May 12th as a thank-you to moms! What a great way to spend time as a family at the zoo for Mother’s Day weekend – even better, they have a full day of fun festivities planned to keep you busy! Make sure to check out their calendar to see the full schedule of events for Saturday May 12th. Point Defiance zoo hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, from April 30 through May 20. They will start their extended summer hours on May 21st.
Here are just a few of the events planned on Saturday May 12th:
Radio Disney Fun – Radio Disney will have music, games, prizes and costumed superheroes all day long
Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater Opens for the season – this will be the start of the 2012 show with superheroes getting out & enjoying nature & getting help from a variety of zoo animals during the show (including a sloth, lynx, iguana & more).
Budgie Buddies exhibit will open for the season - I’m excited about this because this is what we will be doing for my daughter’s birthday weekend in a few weeks most likely – heading to the zoo so she can enjoy the Budgie Buddies – she’s just a tad obsessed with birds right now! She really wants to make a bird scrapbook so it’s the perfect opportunity for her to take a lot of pictures of the birds up close!
Keeper talks all day long – there will be a variety of different talks for various animals all day around the zoo where you can learn more specifics about that particular animal
Free Day for Tacoma Residents – May 8th:
If you’re not able to head to the zoo on Saturday May 12th, but you are a Tacoma resident, they are having their FREE day for residents on Tuesday May 8th. Make sure to check the website to see the specifics on what you’ll need to bring to show you’re a resident.
