5 VIP Tickets to Macy’s Day Parade in Seattle

If you live in the Northwest, then you know how popular the My Macy’s Holiday Parade is in downtown Seattle.  The parade is always the day after Thanksgiving, which is Friday November 29th at 9am this year and the parade lasts an hour.

It’s the kickoff to a season full of fun holiday events all around downtown Seattle. We have never been to the  Macy’s Holiday parade, but every year, we love watching the parade on tv – seeing our familiar Seattle streets all decked out with beautiful floats, sharp marching bands & festive parade-goers.

This year, there will be 25 inflatable floats, local middle & high school marching bands, over 700 costumed characters, professional sports teams and community drill teams.

Macy’s signature inflatable floats will also make their appearance as they do every year. The finale for the parade is when Santa arrives in his sleigh and then heads into Macy’s for the start of holiday pictures with the kids. The Macy’s Santaland will be on the 6th floor, which will be open from November 29th (starting at 11am after the parade) through December 24th.

The My Macy’s Holiday parade will take place on Friday November 29th at 9am  in downtown Seattle – starting at 7th and Pine &  then traveling west down Pine Street,  5th Avenue, University Street, 4th Street and ending at Macy’s. You can find the complete parade route pictured below.

Personally, I think this is a much better way to start off the holidays then standing in crowded lines for Black Friday all night. Get your Christmas shopping done early with all the online deals we’ve been posting and then head to Seattle for a day of fun. :) If you stay the whole day, you can also check out the Macy’s Holiday Star Lighting Ceremony that evening, Friday November 29th, starting at 5pm. They have so many fun events & singing and then it concludes with the lighting of the 161 foot high Holiday Star atop the Macy’s building and an incredible fireworks display (weather-permitting). My husband and I used to go to this Star Lighting Ceremony every year when were first married before having kids as it was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.

  33. currently at my mother has three of her grandchildren including my 2 1/2year old. the two older ones have been through an awful lot over the last many years. with my dad just dying last March of stage 4 terminal cancer. my mother is still caring for the grandkids the oldest of the girls has a syndrome called nager syndromed. she alone requires full time attention. my mother is trying to pay all the bills by herself. with their limited income it is very difficult for them to be able to afford to go and do anything fun. I think it would be something really great to see the smile on her face and the grandkids, as they’re watching such an amazing parade in person.

  34. I would love to start this tradition with my daughter. She is 11 months and will be her first Thanksgiving Parade!!

  35. What a fun way to spend my birthday with my kids if I’m picked as a winner for these tickets! We particapate in the Kent Winterfest Parade with our Girl Scouts each year. This year it will be 130+ girls participating. So it would be great to see the Macy’s Parade to see if we would like to do that in the future. We love parades!

  74. I’d love to take my son this parade. Every year we’ve wanted to go, since we both moved from NYC to Seattle and never made it the parade in NY, so this would be the best of both worlds for us. Plus I hear the weather will be warmer, and no rain. It’s a win win!

  82. I went to the parade with my grandmother. I’d like to continue the tradition and take my granddaughter. Memories!!!

  83. We have always watched the parade on tv, but my girls have decided that this year they would really like to go. I have been unemployed for the last year and we haven’t had any extra activities and I would love to be able to surprise my girls with this really fun package!!

  84. Never been to Macy’s Parade before! Would love to go this year with our small family, VIP :)))

  86. I am currently a cancer patient of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I am fighting a very rare cancer. Seattle has always been a place that mom (me) goes to the Dr. Or mom is in the hospital, or having chemotherapy. I would love to take my family to the parade, this would leave my family with a lasting memory of Seattle that is on a positive note. It would also give us a new tradition to begin with our family, and if something happens to me my kids can continue attending each year knowing I enjoyed this parade with them as well! 95. My family suffered a devastating loss last week and I’m not sure how the holidays will be this year for me especially. Anything I can do to lift everyone’s spirits is worth the effort. A parade may help us provide a sense of fun and normalcy for our two-year old in an otherwise stressful and painful time (which our two year old senses but doesn’t understand).

  102. My husband and i have been going to this parade since high school and now take our 6 year old son. Would love to watch from great seats!

  105. My infant son passed away 7 years ago on Nov 29. I would love to celebrate him with his two little sisters by taking them to the parade and focusing on the love and joy of the season.

  106. I love your blog – I’m so glad that I found it! When my husband and I were first married we lived in New York City for several years. One of our most cherished memories was going to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It’s one of the things I miss the most about living there. Fast forward 20 years, 3 kids, 3 houses, multiple job changes, and just plain life, and we’ve never been to the Seattle version of the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade. We are going this year, plan to make it an annual tradition, and would LOVE the VIP package. Thank you so much for doing this.

  107. I love the holidays! But not for the presents. I love the lights, the memories and the family traditions. My boys would be so excited for this adventure: Cold crisp Seattle morning downtown with hot chocolate in hand waiting for Santa to arrive.

  108. We have never been to the parade, only watching it on TV. We would love to experience it in person.

  109. We had been keep going since we moved to Seattle, so it’s our tradition to celebrate the holiday.

  110. This is our 7th year in Washington. We’ve never attended this parade- and I’m not sure why. This win would certainly help our family to go! We’ve got four kids- ages 10 & up- I bet they’d love it!

  111. I’d love to win the VIP passes for the parade because our family would love to enjoy the parade from a different viewpoint.
