Apple Cake

Ingredients for Cake:
3 big, tart apples (do not peel), diced
2 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs (well-beaten)
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
Ingredients for Frosting: 
1 cup milk
5 rounded tbsp flour
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup sliced almonds (optional)


For Cake:

Mix the apples and sugar together well.
Mix together the oil, eggs & 2 tsp of vanilla. Add to the apple/sugar mix.
Mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, & salt. Add this to the mixture
Bake in a greased 9×13 pan at 350 for 1 hour.
For Frosting:
Mix together the milk & flour. Cook on stovetop until it is a thick, paste like mixture, stirring constantly. Take off the stovetop & cool.
Cream together 1 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar & 1 tsp of vanilla.
Add this mixture to the paste-like mixture & beat well in the mixer.
Frost the apple cake with frosting.
Sprinkle with sliced almonds if you’d like (optional)
