Sharing is caring!

2 years? Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years today since I started Thrifty NW Mom.  And look how much this community has grown since that time!  I started this blog as a way to share my love of couponing & saving money and to fill my friends & family in on all the great deals I kept finding.

I had no idea that it would grow into what it is today.  That is all due to you – my amazing readers!  You all have made this into such a thriving community of frugal followers, sharing money-saving tips & deals so we can all find ways to lower our spending & save more.   We now have almost 14,000 Facebook Fans & over 3000 Twitter followers! This just amazes me daily!

Thank you for all your encouraging emails & comments! I love hearing about how you’ve been able to save money to make a difference in your family’s life. That is what it’s all about for me – encouraging you to find ways to lower your spending & save more so you can enjoy life & give more generously!  So, keep sharing the site & Facebook page with your friends & family so they can start learning to live the frugal life, too!

This blog has been a blessing for me & my family, too.  This has become a small business for me & working on the blog, combined with saving money in all areas of our life with couponing,  has enabled me to stay home with my little girls instead of heading back to work.  And for that I’m so grateful! We are also on a journey to become debt-free (not something I’ve shared a lot about, but  I hope to share more about it this year) & we are anticipating that this will be the year that we will finally be completely free of debt thanks to the Debt Snowball from Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.  {In fact, we just transferred the money today to pay off our car- will be paid off in just 2-3 days! Woo-hoo! Next up is my student loan later this month!}

I’m excited for this coming year & some new features I will be adding, so that we can have even more of a local Northwest emphasis.  We also have awesome participation on the Facebook page, so I’d like to include more reader tips & ideas into the blog this year – since you all are a wealth of information on living frugally! I will have a survey in a few days, too, so that you can give me some feedback on what you’d like to see more of at Thrifty NW Mom.  And feel free to leave any specific ideas here as well!

To show my appreciation & to thank each & every one of  you for your part in making Thrifty NW Mom what it is today – we will be celebrating all week long! I will be offering giveaways every day this week thru next Sunday, January 9th!  And you won’t want to miss the giveaway tomorrow morning!! It’s going to be good…I promise!

  5. Congratulations on such great success with your blog in just two years!!

    I was wondering if you would be willing to pass on some advice… I’m doing some research right now, getting ready to start my own blog. I have had so much fun learning to be more frugal in my life, by getting creative with money saving ideas, using coupons more effectively, finding awesome freebies, winning contests and giveaways, and more. So many people lately have been asking for tips, so I thought it would be a great way to share with everybody :) And I have similar goals… To take this seriously, and make my blog into something that can help to support me so I can stay at home longer with my new baby!

    Do you have any advice for getting started? Anything that you wish someone had told you at the beggining that you didn’t know? Or maybe a tip that someone DID give you that was especially helpful?? I’m emailing a few of my favorite bloggy mommys to ask for guidance… I’d appreciate any tips that you could provide. Or if any of you readers have some advice to share, I’d love to hear from you too!!
