So, how many of you who hosted Thanksgiving dinner had a ton of turkey leftovers from your meal? We were blessed to be able to have Thanksgiving dinner at a family member’s house (thank goodness I only had to bring a salad & cider :) )…but we have cooked a turkey before and it really can be a great deal as you can get so many meals out of it! However, we’ve struggled with figuring out how to vary the meals so it’s not the same old turkey dishes.
So, I think it’s pretty cool that Safeway has come up with a special area of their website dedicated to leftovers, called the Leftovers Lounge. They’ve come up with almost 20 different recipes for your typical holiday items such as turkey, cranberry sauce & mashed potatoes. They also have a 2 hour turkey recipe, which might be just what you need for the next holiday meal, Christmas!
I think I mentioned it last week, but the Thanksgiving meal is seriously my favorite meal of the year as I absolutely love turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing…the works!! Turkey is my favorite kind of meat, so I was quite impressed to see all these different varieties of recipes at their Leftover Lounge using turkey. Here are just a few that I found:
The Leftover Lounge has a Planning Guide, where you can pick the recipes you’re interested in for the week, plan it out on their calendar and print off your shopping list to take with you to the store. That’s pretty handy to have it all together, so you don’t forget any ingredients (which I always seem to do!).
Don’t forget you can load Safeway store e-coupons directly onto your Safeway card at the Safeway website – using Cellfire, Shortcuts, or P&G e-Saver! My store has only been doing this since the summer and it’s a really nice feature to be able to have those extra discounts – especially for those of you who just can’t bring yourself to be clipping the coupons or printing the internet coupons. All you have to do is load them onto your Safeway card (I’d check several times a month at least to see if there’s any e-coupons that have reset) and then you will automatically be saving money, even without having to “clip” coupons! :)
Disclaimer: Safeway provided me with a $25 gift card so that I can try out these new features on their website and share this information with you. Thank you Safeway!
