Safeway: Ziploc Bags just $1.00 after Catalina

Ziploc Bags are one of the items that are part of the many BOGO sales happening at Safeway this week- there also happens to be a matching coupon & a Catalina printing!  {A catalina is a coupon that prints from the box next to the register that you can then use on a future transaction. These can be triggered by specific purchases or based on an advertised promotion.}

Here’s how the transaction will work this week at Safeway:

Buy 4 boxes Ziploc Bags – BOGO (regularly priced at $3.49)
Use $1/2 coupon from 3/25 Smartsource insert (explanation below on why only one coupon is being used)
Pay $5.98, Get $2 Catalina
Final Price:  4/$3.98 (about $1 each)

Explanation on BOGO coupon usage:  There are mixed opinions on whether or not you should use a $1/2 coupon on BOGO sale items.  The Safeway coupon policy states that  “Coupons may not be applied against any free item received in any offer.”  Since the coupon is good only when you are purchasing 2 items, using this coupon with a BOGO sale would mean you are using it towards the item you are buying AND the item you are getting for free.  Even though it’s a single coupon being used, it is still being applied towards both items, so for me, this is not in line with the coupon policy.  I know not everyone out there will agree with me or read the policy in the same way, and I’m fine with that.  I’m just sharing the deal with you in the way I personally feel comfortable doing it.

Thanks, Frugal Living NW!

    It’s actually cheaper…. you only pay $4.98 and get a $2 CAT. Making them about $.75/box! Did this deal today!
