My family just signed up for a FREE one month trial of Netflix, and have been enjoying lots of free new release movies and kid movies since the New Year, if you are looking for something to do over the weekend.

I’m so excited as Netflix is currently showing Les Miserables.

Netflix has worked out an agreement with Disney to now start showing Disney movies on Netflix instant streaming. They will be in the process of switching movies over to Netflix and by 2016, they will show Disney new releases as soon as they are released for pay per view viewing.

Here are some of the Disney movies you should start seeing on Netflix:

  • James and the Giant Peach,
  • The Great Mouse Detective
  • The Rescuers Down Under
  • The Tigger Movie
  • Tinker Bell
  • Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue
  • Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure
  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Road Rally
  • Pocahontas
  • The Fox and the Hound
  • The Aristocats
  • Dumbo
  • Alice in Wonderland (animated)
  • The Muppet Movie (1979)
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Air Buddies
  • Tarzan & Jane

Netflix has a FREE one month trial right now, where you can try it out & see if you think you’ll use it enough to justify the cost. It starts at $4.99/ month for limited streaming or $7.99/month for unlimited streaming for up to 2 devices –  to your tv, computer, tablet, mobile device & more. We used to have Netflix for the DVD mailer service + instant streaming and then stopped the service for awhile, but we found that we really missed the instant streaming option. Especially on days like today where my older daughter is on Day 2 (& most likely Day 3 tomorrow) of a fever & feeling miserable, so thankfully I have some new shows to keep her occupied when she is feeling so miserable.

We have also found that we love Netflix for the flexibility in being able to watch it anywhere. Jens family headed to the Oregon Coast this summer for a few days, we were able to watch some movies on their laptop with Netflix. Netflix can also be streamed through your Wii, XBox, PS3, iPad, iPhone, iTouch, iPad, Apple TV, other tablets & Roku streaming devices. That’s a lot of options of where you can watch a favorite movie or tv show.  {If you are interested in the Roku, it’s on sale right now thru Amazon for just $49.99 + FREE $5 instant video credit on Amazon.}

We still have a very basic cable package (called “Extended Basic” which we pay around $15 a month for) but with Netflix and Hulu Plus, you really don’t need cable at all & you can drastically reduce those high cable bills. Or just pay for the Extended Basic plan if you want the local channels for the news & sports (which is what my hubby likes) and then subscribe to Netflix and/or Hulu Plus. {I like to use Hulu Plus so that I can have access to recent tv shows like Grey’s Anatomy – gotta stay up to date on that one! }

What is your favorite show or movie to watch on Netflix?

    I go back and forth between watching Netflix a LOT and not watching it at all, and overall I definitely watch it enough to justify the cost.

    I’m not the biggest movie watcher (but I LOVE that Disney movies are now available – I went and added a bunch of them to my list), but I watch a lot of shows on Netflix. Shows I’ve watched from the beginning on Netflix include Bones, In Plain Sight and Monk.

    I’m currently in one of the times where I watch a lot (I think because a lot of shows were on winter hiatus) and I’m making my way through Phineas & Ferb :-) and (the British) Merlin.

      Thanks for sharing Katrina. I love that you are making your way through Phineas & Ferb – my kids love that show and I find myself laughing through it some times too!!
