Target Toy Clearance Finds from Readers
July 29, 2010
Welcome to Thrifty NW Mom! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe by your feed reader or by email . Make sure to become a Facebook Fan & follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!
I’m excited to show you several pictures that readers sent of their Target toy clearance deals!! Thanks for sharing, gals!
There are still Target stores which have not dropped their toys to 75% off yet – so this still could be happening within the next few days! So, now you’ll know more ideas of what to look for! It never hurts to go back & check your Target stores, too, after the 75% off clearance, as you never know if you’ll end up finding some items that were returned or brought back to toys after being misplaced during all the commotion of the sale.
A FB fan also mentioned that an employee at her Issaquah store said they had more clearance in the back & would be putting it out as they made room for more items. So, it doesn’t hurt to check back at your store to see if this might happen, too. I didn’t think they’d have extra clearance items in the back, but you never know!
Adriana’s Clearance Deals: She headed to Vancouver, WA & a Portland, OR store- here’s what she has to say:
“I am super excited about the toys I found today. Many people think I’m crazy for doing this but with four kids under five, 6 nieces & nephews, birthday parties, Christmas, etc…it gets expensive! I spent $204.65 for everything. Regular price should have been $787.95.”

Target Toy Clearance Finds
July 29, 2010
Okay, finally I have a chance to get pictures & let you know what I found at my 2 Target’s with their 75% off clearance sales that have been going on this week! I actually arrived at 10am both days & still scored some great deals, although it was pretty picked over at the store I went to today since the store was prepared & had the clearance marked down in time for the store to open this morning.
Here is what I found yesterday at my first Target (I got there as they were in the process of marking items down):
Leapster Didj System – $17.48 (Reg $69.99)
Thomas & Friends Take -n-Play Portable Train – $6.24
Curious George Game – $4.98
Strawberry Shortcake – $2.87
Playmobil 16 piece – $1.57
Fisher Price Ice Cream Game – $4.48
Nesting Blocks (Alphabet) – $3.34
Disney Floating Swan Salon – $3.72
Fisher Price Treehouse – $5.98
Disney Princess Doll – $4.24
Circo Train Tracks – $3.98
Tinkerbell Playset – $4.98
And here is what I found today (July 29th):
Shovel Critter – $1.04
Large Shovel – $.48
Small Shovel – $.24
Bubbles – $.24
Wood Cars – $1.74
Sand Wagon w/Tools – 2.97
I spent about $100 on these items, but saved almost $300! This is such a great time to stock up on gifts – I was able to buy gifts for my girls, my nieces & nephews & other family members, as well as gifts for my mom to give her grandkids. And all those birthday parties during the year! I was so thankful that my mom was down visiting to help me out as I did a small coupon class last night & it just happened to be during the Target toy clearance time – so I was able to shop without kids both days – thank you MOM!
The reason I show you the pictures with the items so that you can see how it really does pay to shop these huge clearance events – but also to help you look for items at your stores, if they haven’t marked toys down to 75% off yet. And if they haven’t, you’re lucky because you’ll know all sorts of things to look for!
For a linkup of all the different items that people are finding at their stores, head over to Thrifty & Thriving & you can link up your deals there if you have a blog. And check out her amazing deals, too – she found a ton of stuff that I never even saw at our stores! She is definitely the queen of Target clearance sales – she knows her stuff!
And send me your pictures, if you found some great deals at your Target store – you could send the details of what you paid for the items or just a total amount & how much you saved!

Target Toy Clearance – 75% off at some locations
July 28, 2010
I’m back from my local Target & they had marked toy clearance to 75% off today. However, it sounds like most locations are still marked at 30 – 50% off. If this is the case, then most likely tomorrow will be the day for the majority of the stores to mark their toy clearance to 75% off. So, even if you’ve only seen the clearance prices at 30% off – they could jump to 75% off tomorrow or even Friday.
At my location, I found that they started with only 1 or 2 employees slowly marking down the clearance, so it was taking awhile to get thru all of the aisles. They did not switch the signs to 75% off until they were finished with the whole section – so many signs still said 30% off when I arrived. When I tried to scan items that had not been marked down yet, it showed up as “Item not available”. Once the employees scanned one item, then all the identical items were then marked down in the system. A few of the employees were so nice to scan a few of our items so we could see if they were 75% off.
So, the point is that even if an item does not have a sticker price that is 75% off, there are no signs for 75% off & it scans as “unavailable”- this does not mean that the items are not marked in the system. You just have to be patient & wait for the employees to scan everything. Thankfully they started bringing out more employees & they had 4-5 people scanning & putting new clearance stickers on by the time I left.
My tip is to put the items into your cart that you’re interested in & then wait as they work to scan all the items & mark them down. Just stay courteous to the employees as they were working hard to get items marked down & it’s going to be quite busy in there tomorrow!
I have to head out for an appointment, but here’s a quick list of some of the items I found (I was shopping for girl items) – I’ll add pictures when I get home:
-Tinkerbell Balloon Playset – $4.98 (reg $19.99)
-Little People Fairy Treehouse – $5.98 (reg $23.99)
-Nesting blocks – $3.34
-Circo 30 pc track set (can be used with other train tracks) – $3.98
-Leapster Didj System – $17.48 (reg. $69.99) **Amazing deal!!
-Curious George Hide & Seek Zoo game – $4.98
-Playmobil 16 pc Underwater set – $1.57

Target 75% off Clearance Starting Today in some Areas
July 28, 2010
Good morning! I just checked some of the coupon forums & also the Thrifty NW Mom Facebook page. It looks like some stores will be starting the 75% off clearance today although other stores could be starting tomorrow, depending on their schedule for marking toy clearance!
A big thank you to Facebook Fan Sarah has let us know that her Target store in New York has their toy clearance at 75% off today. So, it’s definitely worth checking today but don’t worry if your store hasn’t been marked down yet . And remember Christy’s tips for shopping Target toy clearance - items could be marked down throughout the day, too.

Target 75% off Toy Clearance ~ Coming Soon
July 27, 2010
It’s that time of year that we are expecting that Target’s toy clearance will start going to 75% off – hopefully either tomorrow July 28th or Thursday July 29th. For those of you East Coasters, we’d love it if you’d share with those of us in later time zones if you’re finding any 75% clearance at your stores!
Feel free to share as a comment on this post or on the Thrifty NW Mom Facebook fan page. Let us know which store you’re shopping at & what type of deals you’re finding, so we can all help each other out!
Let us know what you’re finding with the baby clearance as well – I’m hearing that many large baby gear items are 50% off clearance. I’m sure you can find some great deals – you’ll just have to look very closely at the boxes to see if there are any red clearance stickers.
You can also follow this thread on the Gotta Deal forum to see what others around the country are finding at their stores over the next few days (just be prepared to sift thru a lot of posts).
Here’s a recap of my tips when shopping the Target toy clearance event:
1) Always grab the item first & then go check the prices or decide if you really want it – This is going to be popular, so I’ve learned to put anything I’m interested in my cart first & then go scan. Then, if I decide I’m not interested, I can bring it back to the clearance section. Otherwise, you run the risk that the item will be gone quickly.
2) Scan, scan, scan – Even if something is not marked at 75% off, if it has a red clearance sticker, scan it anyways & you might be pleasantly surprised to find that it is marked down further than you think.
3) Shop early! Typically Target marks their toy section down on Wednesdays or Thursdays, so that’s why we’re thinking it could be tomorrow (7/28) or Thursday (7/29). So, I’d get there pretty early to have the best selection.
Make sure to check out Thrifty & Thriving’s question & answers about the Target toy clearance -she has some great suggestions & tips to keep in mind as you shop!

Radio Flyer My First Scooter – Pink – $29
July 27, 2010

The Radio Flyer My 1st Scooter in Pink is currently marked down to $29 at Amazon right now. Unfortunately the red one is still marked at $48.73. But, if you have a little girl in your family, this could make a great birthday or early Christmas gift. Just remember that Amazon prices fluctuate frequently, so you’ll want to snag this soon if you’re interested!
Update: Thanks to a FB fan tip, Walmart.com also has the Pink Radio Flyer My 1st Scooter on sale for $29 – just search “Radio Flyer My First Scooter”. They do have the red one for the same price, but it’s currently out of stock -but you might want to keep your eye on that one to see if they get any more in stock in the next few days or so.

July 24, 2010
Update: I’ve heard from a number of readers & this sale is continuing this week! Yay!
I headed to Fred Meyer last night (& again this morning) to check out the toy clearance after hearing reports from many of you that there were some awesome deals with the select 60% off clearance toys. And boy, were you right! We are still expecting that Target should be marking their toy clearance up to 75% off hopefully this week (typically toy markdowns are on Wed or Thurs, but you never know, they could surprise us). However, you should definitely check Fred Meyer today, if you get a chance. I’m not sure how long their 60% off toy clearance sale is going on -it may be ending tonight. But, there are definitely some great deals to be had. If you end up finding a better deal at Target’s toy clearance, save your Fred Meyer receipt & you could return the items.
