Albertsons Weekly Deals for December 21st through 25th – 5 Days Only is a post from: Thrifty NW Mom

As we mentioned earlier this week, Albertson’s has come out with a new printable coupon policy today, which is effective starting tomorrow, Saturday December 17th, 2011. You’ll want to make sure to print this new coupon policy off & keep it in your coupon binder/folder.  I have to say that I am very pleased with Albertson’s new policy & I really feel that they have been listening to couponers’ concerns & working hard to have clear policies so that you won’t face frustration as you may at other stores. A big thank you to Albertsons!! Make sure to head over to their Facebook page & let them know how pleased you are with this new coupon policy!

Don’t forget that we are rumored to have doublers on Sunday, so we’ve got a list of Albertson’s Twice the Value deals for you.

Here are some highlights:

• Overage Allowed for Coupons- Albertsons will now allow overage for the manufacturer’s coupon. This means that if you have a coupon that is $3 off Panko bread crumbs, for example, but the product is marked at $2.50 at Albertsons. They will give you the full value of the coupon ($3) towards your order. You cannot get cash-back but the overage (the extra $.50 will be applied to the rest of your order). This only applies to manufacturer’s coupons – not store coupons (Twice the Value coupons are store coupons). See the exact wording from the policy below:

• Coupons that exceed the retail value of an item will have the remaining amount applied to the balance of the transaction. In the event a transaction balance results in a “credit”, additional items WILL be added/suggested to the order to utilize the remaining value of the coupon. We will not provide any “cash back” on coupons; however we will provide full redemption value.

• Buy One Get One Free Policy Clarified – Albertsons also has clarified the issue of Buy One Get One Free items. They state that if there is a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale going on, you may also use a Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon to get both items for FREE.

• Albertsons offers of Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) promotions in their weekly advertisement can be combined with Buy One, Get One Free manufacturer coupons to result in BOTH items being Free. The items in the manufacturer coupon must exactly match our weekly advertisement offers and meet the redemption criteria.
• Clarification on Albertsons Twice the Value Coupons – The new coupon policy also clarifies the issue with Twice the Value coupons that they are indeed a store coupon & only 1 store coupon may be used with a manufacturer’s coupon (you cannot also use an in-ad store coupon).

New Coupon Policy Coming:

Thrifty Northwest Mom reader Jess reported that her local Albertson’s store shared that a new coupon policy will be going into effect supposedly this Friday, December 16th. I have not personally confirmed this as I’ve had out-of-town company here & haven’t been able to get to Albertsons. However, Jess had a copy of the new policy & this is what it says:

“Manufacturer coupons that exceed the retail value of an item will have the remaining amount applied to the balance of the transaction. In the event the transaction balance results in a “credit”, additional items WILL be added/suggested to the order to utilize the remaining value of the coupon. Albertson’s does not provide “cash back” on coupons, but provided full redemption value”.

We do not have the official policy released from Albertson’s yet, but will give you the information as soon as we find out from Albertson’s directly. But, this is awesome news as it says that they will start providing overage on coupons that are higher than the actual price of the item.  For example, if you have a coupon for $3 off Panko Bread Crumbs and the price is $2.75, you will receive the $.25 overage on that item. They will not provide it as cash-back (as Walmart does right now) but it will be applied to the rest of your order. This is only the second store that will have a published policy on overage, other than Walmart!

This is another great week at Albertsons if you are looking for Thanksgiving Day and baking essentials. A couple things to let you know of this week:

• This is a longer than usual ad cycle…instead of a 7 day ad, this is a 9 day ad. These deals run through Thanksgiving!
• Also, we WILL be getting Twice the Value coupons again this week. This time, however, they will run for 5 days…Sunday through Thursday. Check back for Twice the Value deals later in the week.
• Don’t forget that Albertsons is running Harvest Rewards now through Thanksgiving. For every $40 in produce you purchase using your Albertsons Preferred Rewards Card, you will earn a 5% Harvest Rewards. You can combine up to 4 rewards to save 20%. These rewards are redeemable through 11/16

Yesterday, I went to Albertsons to take advantage of some of the nice Twice the Value deals this week and to pick up some other staples that we needed for the house. I am always getting asked the question….How do you save money on your meat, produce, dairy, etc. since there are rarely coupons available for those items?

By combining my Albertson’s Preferred Rewards Card savings with coupons, catalinas, rewards certificates and pharmacy incentives, I was able to walk away with a great shopping trip. I did break this up into six transactions (in two separate visits) so I could utilize all my Twice the Value coupons which seemed even a little extreme for me on one day but it worked to my advantage.

Here is what I bought in total:

• (2) Gallons of Milk
• (1) 18 pack of Eggs
• 3.62 lbs of Gala Apples
• 2.30 lbs of Bananas
• (2) 1 lb Packages of Ground Beef
• (2) Packages of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bologna
• (2) Packages of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon
• (6) Oscar Mayer Lunchables
• (1) Pack of American Singles Sliced Cheese
• (1) Package of GoGurt
• (4) Bags of Kettle Chips
• (6) Bear Creek Soup Mixes
• (6) Packages of Who Nu? Cookies

The total for all of this before any discounts was $152.55 and I only paid $37.59 out of pocket. That was a 75.4% savings! I was thrilled!
