Results of Albertson’s Post cereal deal

March 17, 2010

We had a super busy day today…so my husband decided to head to Albertson’s himself  to get stocked up on some Post cereal (I think he was just happy to buy his sugar cereals that I don’t normally buy ;) ).  Here’s his account with pictures and scenarios, too! If he can do it, you guys can too!! :)

I hit Albertson’s today, armed with the knowledge that my wife knows what she’s doing when she sends me out couponing. Because, well, I don’t. I may think I have it all figured out, but when I get to the store, my memory goes blank, I start to think that I am missing some important part to make the deal work, etc.  So, when she gave me some coupons, and told me to hit Albertson’s, I was nervous. But then I realized the genius she is. Because when I got there I scored a total of 22 boxes of cereal and 4 bananas for $3.14, AND a $4.00 catalina (although it did take four transactions)! So, we made $.86! We did have to spend $2.25 to buy coupons, so our net cost was $1.39. Here is what I did:

Buy 4 boxes @ $1.59 each= $6.36

I used two $1/2 coupons (purchased from internet)

I used two doublers

I paid $2.36, and received a $3 catalina

————————–

Buy 6 boxes @ $1.59 each= $9.54

I used three $1/2 coupons and three doublers

I used the catalina from the previous transaction

I paid $.54, and received a $4 catalina

————————–

Buy 6 boxes @ $1.59 each= $9.54

Buy 2 bananas (about .75 lb) @ .69/lb = $.55 (this is needed as a filler to get you over $4)

I used three $1/2 coupons and three doublers

I used the catalina from the previous transaction

I paid $.09, and received a $4 catalina

————————–

Buy 6 boxes @ $1.59 each= $9.54

Buy 2 bananas (about .85 lb) @ .69/lb =$ .61

I used three $1/2 coupons and three doublers

I used the catalina from the previous transaction

I paid $.15, and received a $4 catalina

You can check out all the details HERE how you can also get FREE cereal!

Combine this with the BIG Post cereal sale starting tomorrow  and a catalina deal and we are in for some FREE cereal! I hope you all were able to order some cereal coupons! Even if you didn’t, you’ll still get a great deal on Post cereal with the sale & catalina coupons!

Starting Wednesday, select Post cereals will be on sale for $1.59.

Here are the Post cereals on sale:

  • 13 – 18 oz Honey Bunches of Oats
  • 11 oz Fruity Pebbles
  • 12 oz Honeycomb
  • 14.75 oz Golden Crisp
  • 20 oz Raisin Bran

Here are the details for the Post catalina deal:

{  Buy 4 (or more) select Post cereal and get a $3 catalina back (good on your next order-OYNO)
Buy 5 (or more) select Post cereals get a $4 OYNO catalina  }
Catalina will work thru 3/21

There’s a high-value Post cereal coupon you’ll want to make sure to print out & bring along – $2 off Post Raisin Bran (included in the sale). Just go to Postnatural.com and sign up for the newsletter (bottom left) and you will be emailed the link to print the coupon.  {This is not a new coupon, so if you’ve printed this before, you won’t be able to print this again.}

Here are some possible scenarios:

Buy 5 boxes of Post cereal  - $1.59/ea = $7.95 for 5
Use {2} $1/2 coupons from 2/28 Smartsource insert  (-$2)
Use 2 Twice-the-Value coupons (-$2)
Pay $3.95, Receive a $4 catalina

2nd transaction:

Buy 5 boxes of Post Cereal – $7.95 total, purchase another item for at least $.05 (to cover the difference between $8 & $7.95)
Use {2} $1/2 coupons from 2/28 SS  (-$2)
Use 2 Twice-the-Value coupons (-$2)
Use $4 catalina from previous purchase
Pay $0 – Receive another $4 catalina

Just between these 2 transactions, this means 10 boxes of cereal for free (including the catalinas)!! Wow!

*You can keep rolling this 2nd transaction as long as you have coupons.  {And as long as they have cereal – make sure not to clear the shelves at one store – save some for everyone else! :) }

*If you do print the $2 off coupon for Post Raisin Bran, this might work best to use in your first transaction. You’d only pay $1.95 out of pocket & receive the $4 catalina to then use on the rest of your transactions so you don’t have to pay any more out of pocket!

For those of you without any coupons – print off the $2 Post Raisin Bran printable coupon.

Scenario:

Buy 5 Post cereals – $7.95 total
Use $2/1 Post Raisin Bran printable coupon
Pay $5.95 total, receive $4 catalina

2nd transaction:

Buy 5 Post Cereals – $7.95
Use $4 catalina
Pay $3.95 for 5 boxes of cereal, Receive another $4 catalina

For 10 boxes of cereal – $9.90 total (Plus $4 catalina to use on future purchase) = Final Price: $5.90 for 10 boxes of cereal or 59c/ea!! Still a great deal!!

Also, make sure to check out Maybe Frugal’s scenarios for buying 4 or 6 boxes per transaction for even lower out-of-pocket costs!! You’ll need to come up with more to make up the overage, but she pairs it down so you’ll spend as little as possible & get the most for your overage!

Thanks Frugal Living NW !

Albertson’s Doublers Tomorrow!

March 13, 2010

It looks like there will be 3 Albertson’s Twice-the-Value coupons (doublers) in the Sunday paper tomorrow (for most areas in the NW at least).  They are 3 day doublers, good from Sunday 3/14 – Tuesday 3/16.  You can only use 3 double coupons per transaction and can only double coupons up to $1.    However, I frequently do several transactions so I can use more doublers – it varies on your store but mine will just let me line up a few transactions–as long as no one is waiting in line behind me. If there are people behind me, I will just go thru the line several times.

You can check out some ideas of what to use your doublers on over here at Coupon Connections NW (they’re based out of Snohomish County area). You can also find more doubler ideas at Queen Bee Coupons (based in the Olympia area).  {I’ve just added these blogs to my favorite NW deal blogs HERE} .

And don’t forget to order those Post Cereal coupons for the HUGE Post Cereal deal starting on Wednesday. It’s not too late! I’m hearing rumors there may even be doublers as well starting on Wed, but I haven’t seen it confirmed yet!

You can order coupons from The Coupon Clippers (I regularly order coupons from them and have been happy with them. If you order this weekend, your order will go out Mon or Tues and you should hopefully receive them by Friday-that seems to be my experience). So, you’d only have Fri/Sat to use them.

{While I was ordering from the Coupon Clippers, I also bought some coupons to use with the upcoming Kmart doubles event, where they’ll be doubling coupons up to $2, so you might want to think about that, too!}

You can also order coupons from Ebay HERE – make sure to order the Buy it Now coupons (for regular Post cereal, not the  Post kids cereals).   Make sure they are the Post cereal $1/2 coupons, which expire 4/11.

{What’s a doubler? This is an Albertson’s store coupon which you can then pair with a manufacturer’s coupon up to $1. If you have a coupon for $1 off  crackers then you can use a doubler to make that $2 off. }

Upcoming Post Cereal Deal at Albertson’s

March 10, 2010

Albertson’s currently has a catalina deal going on for Post Cereal which will last until Sunday March 21st.  Starting next Wednesday, March 17th, they will also start a sale on Post Cereal, which you can then combine with the catalina. The word is that there should also be doubles for next week as well.

This means that we might be able to purchase FREE (or super cheap) Post cereal!  This sounds very similar to the Post cereal sale that happened around the same time last year.  I ended up purchasing 25 boxes of Post cereal last time and even though that sounds like alot, cereal goes pretty quickly in our house.  So, I will be stocking up even more for this deal!

The time frame for buying this cereal will be short - Wed 3/17 – Sun 3/21.  So, you definitely want to have your coupons in time for this sale! There was a $1/2 Post cereal coupon in the 2/28 Smartsource (SS) insert you’ll be able to use with this sale.

Order Coupons::

However, if you want to purchase more cereal boxes than you have coupons for – you’ll want to think about ordering coupons thru a coupon clipping site such as Coupon Clippers or order them off Ebay. You’ll want to do this soon to make sure they get here in time for this sale!!  What I like about this sale is you can get healthier cereals for such a great deal!! Definitely a super stockup time for me! I’m definitely ordering coupons so I’ll have plenty for this sale. You might also want to warn your Albertson’s to order extra cereal to prepare for all of us couponers who will be hitting the sale!

Check out Fabulessly Frugal for more tips about this upcoming sale!

What is a catalina?

For those who are new to couponing, a catalina is the paper that prints from the box next to the register after you’ve paid for your items. They might be a manufacturer’s coupon to use on specific items or an “On your next order”  (OYNO) coupon (e.g. “Save $4 on your next purchase”).  So, I might make 2 transactions – receive a catalina on the first transaction for OYNO and then use  that catalina to pay for the rest of my purchases in the 2nd transaction. You typically have 2 weeks to use the catalinas.

Safeway & Albertson’s Cereal Deal – Today Only!

March 10, 2010

I’m just getting caught up after being off the computer all last night & today and found this awesome cereal deal going on at both Albertson’s & Safeway! But, you’ll have to hurry as it will only work today (Wednesday March 10th)!! It looks like your best bet is Safeway, although it’s still an awesome price at Albertson’s too!

Here’s the catalina deal (thru today) at both stores:

Buy select Kellogg’s cereals (Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, Froot Loops, Corn Pops, Cocoa Krispies, Honey Smacks)

If you buy 3, get a $1 catalina back

Buy 4, get a $3 catalina

Buy 5, get a $4 catalina

Safeway also has a Buy 5, Get $5 instant savings promotion (so make sure you buy your cereal in groups of 5)

Even better, I’m hearing reports that there are blinkie coupons on the cereals mentioned (as well as on some of the healthier Kellogg’s cereals, which unfortunately are not included in the catalina deal, but the coupon will make these a better price).  So, make sure to look for the blinkie coupons (little blinkie machines right in front of the cereal boxes)

Here’s how to work the deal (once you buy your 5 cereals, you can “roll” the catalina & do the same deal again if you choose using your catalina to pay (although you may need to add in an extra item to use up all of your catalina)::

Safeway::

Buy 5 Kellogg’s select cereals (Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops, Cocoa Rice Krispies) $1.50 each (reg. $2.50-when you buy 5, instant $5 savings)

Use 5 $.70/1 blinkie coupons

(If you can’t find these, there are $1/2 coupons in the 3/7 Red Plum insert – use 2 of these)

Final Price: $4 (if using the blinkie coupons) and receive a $4 catalina back = 5 FREE boxes of cereal (after catalina & coupons)

Use that catalina to roll the deal & buy another 5 cereals {just be courteous & don’t clear the blinkie machines of all the coupons}

Albertson’s:

Buy 4 Kellogg’s select cereals – priced at $1.88/ea    ($7.52 total)

Use (2) $1/2 coupons from 3/7 Red Plum insert

Final Price: $5.52, Get back $3 catalina  = $.63/ea (after catalina & coupons)

Thanks Krazy Coupon Lady & Frugal Living NW!

New Kellogg’s Coupons – Great with Albertson’s Sale this week!!

February 10, 2010

Albertson’s is having a sale on Kellogg’s cereals this week and what do you know, we have Twice-the-Value coupons that came out in today’s ad – good thru the whole week (thru next Tuesday 2/16).  Woo-hoo! I love when we have a whole week to use them!

Even better – there are some new high-value Kellogg’s coupons that just came out today which we should be able to pair up with the Kellogg’s sale & catalina starting tomorrow at Albertson’s.  So, make sure to print these coupons right away – who knows, we might get lucky & the coupons might reset once more before the end of the sale!

Here are the Kellogg’s coupons you can print at Coupons.com:

$1/1 Kellogg’s Smart Start

$1/1 Kellogg’s Special K Low-fat Granola, Raisin Bran Extra, or Frosted Mini Wheats

$2/2 Kellogg’s Special K Low-Fat Granola, Raisin Bran Extra or Frosted Mini Wheats

$1.50/2 Kellogg’s Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Cocoa Krispies & more

$1.50/2 Kellogg’s All-Bran, Crispix, Rice Krispies, Frosted Mini Wheats & more

We’re not sure which Kellogg’s cereals will be included in the Albertson’s promotion – the one they show in the ad is Frosted Flakes. Here’s how the sale would work with the coupons for Frosted Flakes (no doublers can be used on Frosted Flakes as you can only double coupons up to $1):

Buy 4 boxes of Frosted Flakes (12-20 oz) – on sale for $1.88

Use {2} $1.50/2 Kellogg’s coupons

Pay $4.52, Receive $3 catalina (to be used on a future order)

Final Price (including catalina): $1.52 for 4 boxes (or $.38/box)

I’ll be posting some more doubler ideas later – but head on over to Fabulessly Frugal for more Albertson’s deals! By the way, congratulations to the gals at Fabulessly Frugal for a feature on their local Idaho news station, KTRV, this evening!!
