As I mentioned earlier today, my hubby and I had an  impromptu date night and we had some time to kill before a movie, so we headed to Old Navy & Target for some clearance sale shopping. I knew I had a Groupon expiring on January 28th for Old Navy & what better time to use it then when a clearance sale is going on. The Groupon was for $20 to spend at Old Navy & the Groupon cost $10 – so that’s a 50% savings right there if you just spend right around $20.

My Clearance Finds:

1 pair of khaki pants – $5.50
1 navy blouse – $13 (not a fabulous price but I thought it was cute)
1 men’s zip-up  navy sweater – $4.20

Total: $22.70 before tax

Amount Paid after Groupon savings: $2.70 + tax
Total Amount Paid (including $10 Groupon amount): $12.70

When you factor in the amount I’d paid for the Groupon, I only spent $12.70 total for all 3 items!  I also received a Super Cash voucher for an extra $10 to spend at a later date since I spent more than $20. The way the Super Cash works is that you need to spend $20 to use the $10 off coupon – so it’s like another 50% off coupon.

When you take advantage of a daily deal site discount + clearance prices, you can really save a significant amount on your purchase.  This is why I’m such a fan of the daily deal site vouchers for online or in-store promotions. If you know that the store regularly has clearance deals, special promotions (which are not excluded on the voucher) then you just need to plan your shopping trip around a time when you can combine these discounts to maximize your savings.

As I mentioned earlier this week, Old Navy is one of the stores with BIG January clearance sales.  In the past few years, Old Navy has typically offered an extra 50% off clearance prices.  However, this year, it has stayed at an extra 40% off clearance prices – which many stores were featuring all week long.  This sale will last thru Monday January 17th.

Make sure you print off an Old Navy coupon from their Facebook page by playing “Barker’s Bones”.  I was able to get a $15 off $75, but if you  play it enough times, you should be able to get a $10 off $50.

Just an FYI, they are advertising this sale as 80% off – but when you go to their Facebook event page, this is what it says:  Up to 80% off when you take an extra 40% off already reduced items. { I think that marketing strategy is a bit misleading myself  - makes people think they’re taking 80% off the price shown.}

But, from what I’m hearing from Facebook fans, there are many great deals to be found & most stores seem to have a great selection of clearance items this time around! I ran out of time to hit the store today, but hoping to head there tomorrow to see what I can find!

Old Navy is having a “secret” sale on Cami shirts this Thursday July 29th – Saturday July 31st.  You can buy layering camis for just $2 with a limit of 5 per customer (regularly $8.50).  You’ll need to bring along this printable coupon for $2 camis or just say “Cami 4 Me” to receive the discount (if I were you, I’d print off the coupon just to make sure it works at your local store).

The great thing about this sale is that it shouldn’t be as crazy as their 1 day deals since it’s spread out over 3 days, but I’d still try to head there early in the sale to make sure they don’t run out.   I’m definitely going to head there to pick up a few of these camis myself, as it’s a great item to stock up on & use throughout the year!
