Payless Shoes offers some great opportunities to save on back to school shoes for the whole family. You can get some rock bottom deals on shoes here, especially if you shop with a coupon! I find it to be one of the most affordable spots to get shoes for all of my kids, from youngest to oldest. Payless Shoes wants us to make it even more affordable for TWO of you, so we have 2 – $25 gift cards to give away to a couple of you.
Before we get to the giveaway, here are some money saving tips on how we got the most out of our shopping trip at Payless Shoes.
Sia’s Shopping Trip:
1) Start by getting your kids feet measured. This was the first shoe store we have been in this year, that they offered to measure my kids feet. Both of my youngest kids ended up measuring in a different size then I expected. This saves us time and money, because I would have purchased the wrong size and either had to make a second trip back to return or not gotten as much wear out of them.
2) Check sale items. These are usually identified by a red tag on the outside of the box, to make them easy to spot. I found shoes in my sons size (mens 13) for as low as $5 per pair! When coupons are available, you can usually use them with sale items too, and really stretch your money.
3) Payless Shoes also carries everyday value shoes. These are shoes that you will always find at that low value. I found shoes with starting prices of $9.99 for these deals!
4) Use coupons. There is currently a $10 off a $25 purchase at Payless Shoes (this coupon is available online only now, but you can get free shipping to your store if you buy online). My girls found two pairs they liked in the $12.99 range. Using that coupon, I was able to get them 2 pairs each for just under $26 before tax. After coupon, it works out to aruond $8 per pair before taxes.
You can also text PAYLESS to 747474 to join Payless Insiders text alerts/coupons, and have deals sent right to your mobile. This month’s discount was for 20% off. Message and Data Rates May Apply. 4 messages per month.
My teen was able to find a pair of shoes he really liked in a mens size 13 for $20. Add in socks to bring the total over $25, and use the coupon listed above and we were able to get his shoes and socks for just over $15 and tax!
They also offer sport shoes, accessories, socks and more!
Jen’s Shopping Trip:
I had learned from Payless Shoes that they would be offering a special $10 off $25 coupon on your receipt when you made any purchase at Office Max, so I headed to Office Max first. I took advantage of purchasing a few of last week’s Office Max stock-up deals (free folders with $5 purchase, $.25 markers & more). I then took my $10 off $25 coupon to Payless to check out some shoes for my girls. {The Office Max coupon is available to use until 9/3}
If you do not have a specific coupon for Payless, they always offer 10% off your entire purchase for members & dependents of the Armed Forces (just show your ID to get the discount). My clerk also told me that you can get 10% off your purchase when you show your AAA card as well.
Here are the shoes we got for flower girl shoes for each of my girls at $14.99/ea
Our main goal was to look for shoes for a wedding this past weekend – my girls were flower girls & had cream/ivory colored dresses so we had been on the hunt for ivory shoes. We had looked in numerous stores in the mall & online but hadn’t found any good options…until we came to Payless Shoes. Fortunately we found the perfect shoes – the only problem was they didn’t have the right size in the cream for my girls. The sales clerk was very helpful in calling around to a number of stores for me, though & found another store in a neighboring town which had both the sizes & colors I needed. They placed them on hold for me for 2 days so I could have time to pick them up. Even better, she gave me a coupon for $4 off each pair of shoes for me to use since I would have to drive to a different store to pick up the shoes.
I headed to the second Payless shoe store & found our shoes. We also found the silver shoes (below) & decided to get those as well for a more basic shoe for them to use with their skirts & dresses all year. When I went to pay, they actually allowed me to use the $10 off $25 coupon from Office Max + the 2 $4 off coupons (I’d gotten from the other store) for a total of $18 off my total. I ended up spending $37.96 + tax for 4 pairs of girls’ shoes or $9.49/ea. The cashier told me that you can use up to 3 coupons per transaction (I’m not sure if this is the case everywhere, but they did allow me to do this at my store.)
Here are some of the deals that I saw when shopping for my girls:
Black Mary Jane style shoes – on sale for $12.99
Canvas Sneakers – on sale for $14.99 – love the fun colors with these!
Silver Dressy Shoes - $12.99 (everyday price) – My daughters needed a nicer pair of shoes that would be versatile to wear with a number of different dresses, skirts, etc – these were perfect!
I definitely think Payless Shoes is a great option for affordable shoes, especially if you are looking for specific styles as they have such a wide variety of styles. My girls wear wide shoes & typically there are very few shoes that fit them. However, Payless is one of the very few stores that carry wide shoes, which I like. And my girls were even able to wear some shoes that were not wide-sized because there was just such an assortment of styles.
