Rite Aid Changes: New +UP Reward Redemption Policies and Digital Coupons

Rite Aid has made some changes to their Wellness+ program that you need to be aware of:

+UP Rewards: You will no longer be able to use your +UP Rewards on the same day. The policy change states that the “+UP Reward may not be redeemed until 6am local time the next day after issuance.” In other words, when an +UP Reward is issued at checkout, you will not be able to redeem that reward until 6am the following day.

Load2Card: This is an exciting new program that will allow you to load coupons directly on to your Wellness+ card. The policy does state that these coupons will come off before any paper coupons and can not be removed once loaded to your card. Right now there are a total of 21 coupons available to load, with a majority of the coupons being for Rite Aid Brand products.

Thanks Frugal Living NW!

will you be able to use a digital AND a paper manufacturer’s coupon?

It doesn’t look like you can, but their wording is confusing. “Digital offers cannot be combined with manufacturer paper coupons of equal value on the purchase of a single item.” This probably means you can’t, but they leave a grey area there that’s open for interpretation by using the words “of equal value”. So…can you combine them with a manufacturer coupon of less or greater value?

Rite Aid has gone from having one of the best programs to having one of the worst. They were the first to have online rebates. They still have them, I suppose, but the good ones, for common items, are few & far between. Most ‘deals’ are now done via ‘UP+ rewards’. I don’t live very close to Rite Aid, so going back multiple times during the week is out of the question. The only reason UP+ rewards worked for me was because I could ‘chain’ them – purchase each item by itself, applying the reward from one item to the next item.
If the rewards were good for a reasonable amount of time (> 2 months), then the new rules might be okay for me. But they expire in only 2 weeks – who knows if Rite Aid will have anything worth buying in the next 2 weeks? This makes the program seem like gambling to me now.
I suppose I could always buy a reward item, and if there is nothing else worth buying later, just return the first item… but what a hassle! I strongly suspect that their business plan now prominently includes unused UP+ rewards.
