Yesterday, I went to Albertsons to take advantage of some of the nice Twice the Value deals this week and to pick up some other staples that we needed for the house. I am always getting asked the question….How do you save money on your meat, produce, dairy, etc. since there are rarely coupons available for those items?
By combining my Albertson’s Preferred Rewards Card savings with coupons, catalinas, rewards certificates and pharmacy incentives, I was able to walk away with a great shopping trip. I did break this up into six transactions (in two separate visits) so I could utilize all my Twice the Value coupons which seemed even a little extreme for me on one day but it worked to my advantage.
Here is what I bought in total:
- (2) Gallons of Milk
- (1) 18 pack of Eggs
- 3.62 lbs of Gala Apples
- 2.30 lbs of Bananas
- (2) 1 lb Packages of Ground Beef
- (2) Packages of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bologna
- (2) Packages of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon
- (6) Oscar Mayer Lunchables
- (1) Pack of American Singles Sliced Cheese
- (1) Package of GoGurt
- (4) Bags of Kettle Chips
- (6) Bear Creek Soup Mixes
- (6) Packages of Who Nu? Cookies
- (2) Packages of Halloween Oreo Cookies
- (9) Boxes of Jell-O Instant Pudding
- (1) Box Idahoan AuGratin Potatoes (had a FREE catalina coupon)
The total for all of this before any discounts was $152.55 and I only paid $37.59 out of pocket. That was a 75.4% savings! I was thrilled!

- Coupon Savings (including Twice the Value coupons) – $41.34
- Catalina Coupons – $4.00
- Preferred Rewards Certificates – $5.00 (AND I earned another one to use on my next trip!)
- Albertsons Pharmacy Gift Card – $25.00 (Coupon from Cold & Flu Coupon Booklet for a new or transferred prescription)
- Cash Paid – $37.59

The mortons sea salt coupon is for the larger size…and the one priced at $1.49 is the smaller size. I was going to get some today before I noticed!

Fun little tidbit: the “weekly list for less” savings at the bottom of your receipt does not include the amount you saved with doublers. Noticed that today when I was checking out. So, according to my receipts, I had saved 68%, but with the doublers, I had saved 73% on my trips.
