Don’t forget to check your store today to see if the toy clearance changed to 75% off!! Make sure to leave a comment with your location if it’s changed!!
As I’ve mentioned before, this is the time of year for Target’s toy clearance to hit 75% off (happens in January & July every year). Not only that, there are a number of other Target departments which are having big clearance sales as well. I’ve been checking the deal forums to see if people have found 75% off toys in any of their areas & it sounds like it’s only at select stores today (although you never know, your store could be one of the early ones!). So, I think Thursday & possibly Friday are going to be the days that we see the majority of stores discount the toy clearance to 75% off. Typically Wednesdays & Thursdays are the days that most Target stores mark their toys down, although there are some stores that wait till Fridays.
Make sure to leave a comment if you’ve found 75% off toys at your Target store & let us know the specific location! Make sure to stay tuned to the Thrifty NW Mom Facebook Fan page, too, as I will share updates on there frequently over the next few days as will many readers.
Here’s a few tips I have for shopping any of the Target clearance sales:
- Make a trip to the store yourself or tag -team with a friend so you can each check out different stores. Don’t rely on calling the store to find out if their toy clearance is 75% off. Typically you will not get accurate information if you call – best bet is to go to the store in person to find out for yourself!
- Scan the items, don’t rely on the clearance signs or price tags. If they are in the middle of clearancing items, they will most likely not change the signs until they are completely done (& sometimes may not change it to 75% off, period). Also, once they scan one item, then all of those specific toys will become clearanced in the system. However, it may take awhile for them to mark them down with stickers (or they may not even change the stickers if they run out of time)….this is why you want to scan!
- Put any items you’re interested into your cart first – then scan! Once the toy clearance is marked to 75% off, it will go FAST! If you think about it too much, it will be gone! So, I always recommend going thru one time quickly & grab any items you’re interested in, scan them & then go back & take a more thorough look.

As I said, there are also a number of other clearance sales going on around the store at Target. Here are some of the other departments I’ve found clearance deals (I checked on Monday & will be going back later today to update even more). I’ve also heard from readers about clearance in these departments.
Other Target Clearance Deals Going On:
- Outdoor Toys – A number of readers have reported some awesome finds in the outdoor/large toy section – just look closely for those little red clearance stickers!
- Baby Clothing & Baby Equipment – make sure to look closely for the little red clearance stickers, especially on the baby equipment as it may not always be marked clearly. And don’t forget to scan! I have found some great baby items at this sale, including a double stroller for just $65. Those big items will go fast, though!
- Shoes – Several readers are reporting that a number of kids shoes have already gone to 75% off clearance & winter boots up to 50% off, so this is a great time to stock up! Especially since we are still in need of those winter boots for sure (as evidenced by the snow last night!)
- Kids Clothing – This is the time of year we start to see big markdowns on the kids clothing on clearance with 50-75% off clothes. You’ll find clothes as low as $1.
- Sporting Goods/Camping Equipment – I saw a number of markdowns on camping supplies & sporting goods, including some exercise equipment & water bottles, etc.
- Kitchen Items
- Bath & Bedding
- Stationery
And much, much more! Leave a comment with the clearance deals you’re finding at your store (include your location too). If you have pictures of your amazing Target clearance finds, send them to me & I’ll post them so everyone can see what type of deals we’re finding! Mechanicsville, VA Target had 75% off toys today – Wednesday! Great deals!
Lake Stevens Target had 75% clearance on its Little Tikes sporting goods. Got over $200 of items for under $50.00 out the door. Toys are still at 30-50% off.
As a former Target employee I thought I’d let you know that when anything goes on clearance normal routine is that the mark down team pulls everything from the shelves and backroom and takes them into one place in the back. Here they sit and sticker everything before it gets taken back out onto the floor and all put into one place in that section. Now unless you go to a store with a lazy team this is how clearance anything operates. The best time to get marked down items is when they are in the mini-seasonal section and as they are getting ready to move those items out to make way for a new display. The store has to get rid of all mini-seasonal items as most aren’t sold anywhere else in the school and they can’t be sent back, so anything left over as they change over displays gets put on clearance.
I went to the Target at Cascade Station (by PDX) this morning and they were in the process of marking everything to 75% off. They let me know that they would scan and sticker items for me that hadn’t been marked yet. I quickly filled one cart… so one of the gals went and grabbed me another one! Great customer service.
Thanks for the link Jen, and thanks for calling me a Target Queen. You made me smile!
I hope everyone finds some great deals!

Monday night I went to target (Northern California) and got my son 3 pairs of shoes; two black running shoes for $5.50 marked down from $21.99 and one pair of cherokee shoes for $4 + but the red sticker was only marked down to 50% off, so I was quite happy when they rang up for 75% off reg. price of $16.99. Dwell Studio clothing for infants (3-12 months) was marked down 75% off from $12.99. Picked up stuff for two baby showers I am attending. Baby girls Christmas socks 3 pack and tights one per pack were 75% off ($2.00 down from $8.00)
They do have great customer service! I found a Thomas vehicle that was in the 75% off aisle, marked “repackage,” but not ringing up as anything less than $20. The lady I asked thought it was odd and went to find someone who marked it down for me.
Has anyone seen the toys or sporting goods at the smokey point/Marysville, Washington store go 75 off yet? I went there every day last week and on Monday and nothing was more than 50 off.
Markdown day for toys is usually Thursday. Sometimes for these big clearances they might mark down a day early (Wednesday) but when you’re watching for the bug 75% off, it almost always happens on a Wednesday or Thursday morning. Good luck!
Headed to the 160th one now. Hoping!
Let us know what you find!!
Does anyone know whether playmobile toys are usually included in this kind of sale? Anyone checked out Northgate in Seattle yet?

I saw some Playmobile at my local target(Tampa, FL) at 75% off
It’s a go at South Hill Mall in Puyallup.
Everything is at 75 except for Legos, which are still at 50.

Durham, NC Target was marking down to 75% this morning when I was there. A Disney Princess play kitchen was $14 (originally $60), and the 2 foot tall Buzz Lightyear Robot for $100 was marked down to $24.98…and much much more!
Woodinville was marked down to 75% off this morning! I scored $302.61 worth of toys for only $75! LOVE this sale every year!
My favorite finds were a Star Wars toy that is controlled with your brain waves ($99.99 marked down to $25) a couple of cool dinosaur toys and some remote control spiders!
I did a blog post about it as well!

I live in Boise and am just sick over what I saw at the stores here. I was at my local Target yesterday and they had 3 full isles of clearance, not to mention both end caps of many of the isles. I went back this afternoon and they were cleaned out. I talked to the manager to see if they had the items in the back marking them down as one of the previous ladies on here said. He told me that all of it was out and that there were multiple ladies leaving the store with 5-6 carts full of toys. I guess I just needed to get on and now off my little soap box. Love the site. Thanks for all you do!
It was pure madness in the toy department at Target this morning. Around 10 am in the Mount Vernon store there were about a half dozen moms shopping for their kiddos. Which is really no big deal, but there were also 2 men that left with 5 shopping carts full of toys. I guess they come down from Canada and wipe out the clearance section. Then they resale the items in Canada for a profit. Once they left there was very little left to pick from.
The Kent store was marked down, but pretty well cleaned out – I got some toy story toys, games, and transformers helmets for good prices for birthday gifts. They also had hanes sweat separates for 1.98 each, which was a good stock up price.
The West Seattle one was marked down and I got some of the more expensive items! I was there for about 30 minutes and by the time I left all of the good stuff was almost gone! Go tonight if you’re going to go!!!
I went to everett, smokey point, lake stevens and lynnwood. My tip is to walk up and down each aisle in the toy dept, plus the sporting goods aisles. I found great bargains that people had discarded that they had not returned to the clearance section. That said, all these stores had 75% off clearance, but every store had different things. One employee I talked to said that mark downs are different for each store, depending on inventory, store square footage and demographics and just because it was 75% off at one store does not mean that another will even clearance out that particular item.
I went to the Smokey Point/Marysville store tonight it was pretty picked over. But yes people discard stuff on every isle so you really just have to look. Another thing I noticed was the bigger items that are up high were not priced up to date. I had one of the guys who works there price scan for me and I got a princess car for $13 orginally $50 and a Little Tykes work bench for $15 orginally $60.
