As I mentioned, January is a BIG month for retail stores to clearance out many of their items, including winter gear! There are a number of stores which will be having big clearance sales in the next few weeks. {And don’t forget the Target clearance sales happening right now.} I thought I’d give you a heads up on some of the sales that will be coming up. Upcoming Clearance Sales:
Old Navy: Many stores now have an extra 40% off clearance prices (thanks to all the readers sending this tip in). As I looked back at my previous blog posts, it looks like this is the weekend that they have started their extra 50% off sale as well! Typically it starts on a Friday (last year it was Friday Jan 15th, so I foresee it happening again this Friday Jan 14th!). Readers are reporting finding winter gear, including coats in the clearance section as low as $5. Reader Sandra spent $23 on 10 items including a puffy winter coat for $5. You may not want to wait until the extra 50% off sale with those prices!
The Children’s Place: As I mentioned earlier today, The Children’s Place is having their huge Monster Sale going on now, with prices up to 60% off. This is online & in-stores (today only you can get free shipping, too).
Toys R Us: I’m hearing reports of clearance at Toys R Us as well. FB Fan Christie reported finding a 42″ Air Hockey table – on sale for $25 (regularly $77) – with an extra 25% off to make it $18. Remember that all stores will have different clearance items – just look for those small clearance signs or stickers.
JCPenney – For the last few years, JCPenney also had a big clearance event in mid-January. They had clothing up to an extra 75% off retail prices (or an extra 50% off clearance prices). I haven’t been in to the stores yet to see if they’ve started any major markdowns, so let me know what you’ve found at your stores. It looks like the extra 50% off sale was around January 22nd last year (so maybe next weekend if they follow the same pattern?)

found some pretty good deals on toys at our local Fred Meyer. Scored a little people set for $14 that was $39.99 originally.
Fred Meyer is having a huge sale on alot of things. Clothes are 60% off and I scored some really great deals on kids clothing!
Correction: the puffer coat at old navy was $5!
I was just in JC Penny and their christmas clearance was 80% off! This includes MP3 headphones, photo coasters, and other stocking stuffers that can be used any time of the year. From what I saw of the clothes, they were 60% off.

I got my son a really nice puffy coat for next year at Fred Meyers. It was 40% off the clearance price of 19.99 making it about $12.
At the Clackamas JC Penney I found a rack of Nike sweatshits in the boys department (mostly size sm and m) marked at $2.97!
