Great Wolf Lodge Howl-O-Ween Event – Special Discount for Northwest Readers

July 30, 2010

Welcome to Thrifty NW Mom! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe by your feed reader or by email . Make sure to become a Facebook Fan & follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!

I am so excited to tell you about  this event that has been in the planning stages for several months! Several Northwest Deal Bloggers have teamed up with Great Wolf Lodge for a special Howl-o-Ween event at the Grand Mound, Washington Great Wolf Lodge location.  This event will take place on the weekend of October 15 – 17th & Thrifty NW Mom readers can book a family suite on Friday October 15th and/or Saturday October 16th for just $169 a night when you use the group code: 1010FAMBLOG.  The regular rate for a family suite on that weekend is $239 a night, so this is a significant savings.  This rate for the family suite (family of 4) also includes waterpark passes, so it will be a weekend full of fun at this huge indoor waterpark.

In order to receive this special rate for the family suite, you will need to book before September 14th, 2010.  However, I would suggest booking as early as you can, since I know this will be a very popular event & there will be limited space!  Update: A family suite actually sleeps 6 (2 queen size beds & a pullout couch); however, it includes 4 waterpark passes. Children 2 & under are free. If you want the family suite, but need more waterpark passes, then you can contact Guest Reservations to pay the extra.  And if you need a larger room than a Family Suite, they do have a limited number of larger rooms available -you would just pay the difference in the discounted price.

My family is excited to go as this will be our first time at Great Wolf Lodge & as a bonus, it is a few days before both my husband and youngest daughter’s birthday (they share a birthday)! Great way to celebrate!  We would love for all of you to join us & the other Northwest deal bloggers that will be there as well!  I can’t wait to meet so many of you readers in person!

Great Wolf Lodge has some fun events planned for this weekend including:

  • Trick or Treating Trail Costume Contest
  • Nightly Howl-O-Ween Fun
  • Games in Wiley’s Haunted Woods
  • Pumpkin Patch
  • Halloween Crafts

We also have several workshops planned for the adults, which will be facilitated by Northwest Deal bloggers – so stay tuned for more information.  So, not only will it be a fun weekend for the whole family, but  you’ll also get to talk coupons & deals with other thrifty-minded people!  And don’t forget those adorable costumes for your kids!

A big thank you to my friend Angela from Frugal Living NW who has worked hard to put together this event for all of us!

Disclosure: I will be receiving a discounted rate for my participation in this event & for sharing this information with all of you.

What if we are a family of 5? Is there still a deal?

Shannon – I just clarified with my contact for GWL and she said that the Family Suite actually sleeps 6 – 2 queen beds & a pullout couch. It does come with 4 waterpark passes, but childen 2 & under are free, and if extra waterpark passes are needed, you could pay a small extra fee for that. You would just need to call Guest Reservations & mention this code & have them figure it all out for you.

If you have larger families that wouldn’t fit into a family suite, you can call Guest Reservations & they can work out the difference for a larger room based on this discounted price. So, definitely call them to see which larger rooms are available – although she did say that they have a limited number of the larger rooms available thru this promotion, so I’d call fairly soon!

Does anyone know if this place is toddler (will be 15months come October) friendly ? Or just older kids?

I found this information on their website

    Gushin’ Geyser
The little ones squeal as the volcano “erupts” with a spray of water. They can safely toddle along the rubber no-slip surface, exploring the spray-and-play features, or wade into the zero-depth entry kiddie pool with a maximum depth of one foot.

They also have smaller waterslides that you can go down with a toddler.

Actually, we got in trouble for going down the slide with our toddlers, they really need to go down on thier own. We did one parent at each end of the slide for our 3 year old. It’s still pretty fun with a 15 month old (did it with my son at that age). The wave pool is great. He just can’t do the waterslides. I would take a toddler again, no problem (especially great if it’s one kid to two parents – then you can take turns going down the waterslides!). Enjoy!
P.S. they provide the life vests, so leave the arm floaties at home!

I checked their website and it looks like you can get the wrist band for the waterpark at 1pm even though check in isn’t until 4pm and it’s good the day of check-in until the closing of the waterpark the day you check-out.

Kristen, we’ve gone to GWL several times and always with a baby. It’s super fun for all ages, really! There is a humongous toddler play area so my hubby and I always trade off, one staying with the baby and one going with the older kids. They provide racks and racks of floaty/safety vests for babies on up if you want to try them out or have non-swimmers (like my 5-yr old). And there are lifeguards everywhere, switched out almost every 1/2 hour it seems (2 dedicated just to the baby area). There is a *free* nighttime story that’s all huge animatronic figures and feels like disneyland – definitely captivating for lttle ones. Hope this helps!

Just thought I’d share some handy tips we’ve picked up along the way . . . bring your own food/snacks (lunch stuff, fruit, yogurts, instant oatmeal), as they have fridges/microwaves in the rooms and the restaurants and snack bars are very expensive. When we leave our hotel room and go downstairs to the waterpark, we pack a big beachbag of food, water bottles, etc. to keep poolside. Also, the morning of your departure, check out of the rooms early and put your stuff in the car, but go back and play ALL day inside the water park – they have lockers and a lockerroom so you can change. (our first trip we thought we had to leave the park at the 11a.m. check-out and missed out on another full day of playing) I’ve also just learned you can check in early to swim even before you’re room’s ready.

Thanks Jen for posting this! I booked both nights. Ironically we just drove by there this past weekend and we talked about how we should really go but it’s so expensive and I said too bad there’s not a coupon to go!

Would NW Blogger be willing to add more rooms closer to the deadline? I have to wait till then as my hubby gets his bonus around the middle of September. I’ve booked a group before, and around the deadline if you need to add more rooms, they allow that providing there are rooms available.

    [Reply]

    Jen Reply:

Brandie- The NW Blogger group is not able to add more rooms as it is not a group reservation that we have made. This is a special discounted rate that GWL has graciously offered to NW deal blog readers. But it is only available thru September 14th & only on a limited number of rooms. Many readers are already signing up, so it may fill up quickly.

I don’t know how it works exactly at GWL, but I would think that all you would need to put down is a deposit & then pay the rest when you arrive. I could be wrong, though. But, maybe that option would work for you.

Ann-Unfortunately I don’t think they will open any more rooms. I’ll definitely announce it if they do-but they said that today would be the final rooms they’d open.
