Safeway is the next store to add to the list of stores that I will be featuring the highlights! These store deals & coupon matchups are courtesy of Angela, my bloggy pal over at Frugal Living NW. Frugal Living NW is a wonderful Northwest blog, based out of Portland, OR, filled with detailed information all about the best grocery & drug store deals in the NW, as well as other great money-saving strategies & tips!
Head on over to Frugal Living NW to see the complete list of Safeway store sales & coupon matchups!
Note: When looking at the coupon matchups at Frugal Living NW, Safeway stores in SW WA/OR allow 3 Safeway doubles up to $.50 – so you may see these in her matchups. However, WA & other areas do not have doubles, so just readjust the price w/o doubles! {We all wish they would do doubles up here!}

What is your favorite grocery store?
There has been quite a bit of discussion today on the Thrifty NW Mom Facebook Fan page regarding readers’ favorite grocery stores. I have to say that my two main grocery stores to shop at are Safeway & Albertsons. Although after reading all the comments of those of you who love Fred Meyer, I’m definitely going to have to start going to Freddies more often.
But, Safeway is my top choice (when they have the deals I want) because it’s the only store in my town & all other stores I have to travel at least 15 minutes to the store. That makes a big difference in my book when you have little ones!
The cashiers all know me as I often head in there quite late at night – it’s nice to be able to run to a store a few blocks away after my hubby gets home late in the evening (which is typically the case these past 2 months as he’s been coaching high school baseball – thank goodness next week is the last week!!). And my Safeway is very coupon-friendly – which I know is not the case at all Safeway stores unfortunately, as there have been more & more issues with using internet printable coupons at some Safeway stores.
Albertson’s is another favorite of mine because I love the Twice -the-Value coupons (doublers) that come every few weeks! And I absolutely love the cashiers at my local Albertson’s – they go out of their way to accommodate couponers!!
So, now I’m curious to find out from all of you – what is your favorite grocery store to shop at & why?

Safeway is my favorite because it is right here in our little town. I would love to throw Albertsons and Safeway in there, too, however they are both at least 30 minutes away. I love that you and Angela are working together on your matchups!!!
Hands down, Winco is my go to place for groceries. Often their sale prices are cheaper than coupon deals around town. Plus their bulk section is awesome. It has all the healthy, unprocessed staples I need for an awesome price.
Lately, I have been shopping at Fred Meyer. I wish I lived closer to a Winco because I know people who rave about them but it’s totally out of my way. I will shop at Safeway or Top Foods if one of them has a great deal on something I’m looking for or need to stock up on.
The $0.75/1 Cheez-It coupon won’t work with the Cheez-Its that will be on sale for $0.99…The coupon says 13.75 oz or larger and the Cheez-Its that will be on sale are for the 7.5-9 oz sizes.
I am partial to Albertson’s. My husband works there so it is easy for me to get in on the good coupon deals and no one ever gives me a hard time. Plus, we get a discount on top of everything else! : ) Can’t beat that! Safeway is closer to me, but not by much. I never shop for food at Fred Meyer, it always seems pricey unless they have coupons. But maybe this has changed, because Safeway has changed a lot too in the past few months.
Fred Meyer! I put my 3 year old in the play place and they have great deals on sale items!!
I’m a Winco person too. The items are already low priced and I add coupons to the mix and save $20 – $30 every week there. The only coupons they don’t accept are the internet Free coupons.
