Toys R Us: FREE My Little Ponies

Update: I went to Toys R Us this afternoon and had no trouble buying the My Little Ponies (priced at $5.49/ea) and using my BOGO coupon to get them for free! I also went ahead and bought 2 playsets and used {2} $5 off coupon (from the 3/28 insert) or Playsaver.com. They were priced at $19.99 and one was free with the BOGO sale. I then used my $10 off coupons to pay just $10 total for the 2 My Little Ponies playsets ($5/ea). My daughter’s birthday is coming up in May and she has been asking about My Little Ponies!

Toys R Us is having a great “Deal of the Day” today only – Wednesday March 31st! Buy 1 My Little Pony, Get 1 FREE (B1G1 FREE) today! Even better, many areas received the Hasbro Playsaver coupon inserts in the 3/28 Sunday paper, which included a BOGO My Little Pony coupon.  There are also BOGO coupons available at Playsaver.com (Hasbro’s toy/game coupon site which did reset on Monday).

Technically, you should be able to use the BOGO coupon with the BOGO sale on My Little Ponies to get 2 free; however I’m not sure if Toys R Us will allow this deal to work or not. From looking at other blogs, some people are having success, while others have not had it work. You might want to call your store ahead of time to see what their policy is with BOGO sales/coupons.

Here are a few scenarios for you to try:

Buy 2 My Little Ponies (single assortment-should be around $5.99)
Store sale – BOGO FREE My Little Pony
Use BOGO  coupon from 3/28 Hasbro insert or printable coupon from Playsaver.com
Final Price: 2 FREE My Little Ponies

*If this doesn’t work, then try this scenario:

Buy 3 My Little Ponies – $5.99 ea (this may be slighlty higher in NW)
B1G1 Store Sale (1 free)
Coupon from 3/28 insert or printable coupon HERE (1 FREE)
Final Price: $5.99 for 3 ponies or $2/ea

Let us know if you’re able to get these free! I’ll be trying it later this afternoon & report back in!  Don’t forget about the big Toys R Us game sale going on this week.

*You may want to bring in a copy of the B1G1 Sale info HERE from Toys R Us.  Also, explain that the store will be reimbursed by the manufacturer for the one that is free from the coupon, so one is free from the store & one is free from the manufacturer.

*If you’d like to receive these daily deals from Toys R Us in your email, go sign up HERE. I receive these daily in my email for the next day’s sale.

I would have posted this deal last night, but as I was out doing some last minute grocery shopping late last night at  Albertson’s using up those doublers, my 17 mo old ended up getting quite sick. :( She definitely needed snuggles when I got home & daddy needed a break after dealing with that! {Better him than me, though, I do NOT do well with vomiting…ugh!} Thankfully, she seems to be feeling better today, though, and has kept down some pedialyte & toast! Whew!

Frequently, when stores do this kind of deal and refuse your BOGO when you buy 2 items, it’s better to try 4 than 3 (Safeway is constantly like this). They’ll give you the store’s promo of two free for buying two, and allow you to apply your BOGO coupon to the set of two you’re “paying for”. This way the end result is paying for 1 and getting 3 free, not quite as nice as just plain free, but better than buy one get two free.

Thanks for the advice, Maygan! You’re definitely my coupon guru! :) I’ll add that thought in there!

I tried the deal this morning with 4 ponies at the Everett, WA Toys R Us and was told by the manager that the BOGO coupon says (in the fine print) that it cannot be combined with any other offer (TRU BOGO sale in this case). Some people have had luck with the deal at other stores though.

Faith, that’s silly! The “cannot be combined with any other offer” generally means that you cannot apply more than one manufacturer’s coupon to the purchase of that one item. So, if you happen to have some coupons for a set dollar amount off MLP, you would be unable to apply that to the “free” item you’re already using a coupon on. It’s standard coupon wording and has nothing to do with sale prices at a store.

I went to Toy R Us in Clackamas, OR. They were completely sold out of My Little Ponies and they do not give rain check for deal of the day items, guess I will have to be more on it!

They were out at Puyallup, Southcenter, and Bellevue :( The good thing was that all 3 stores had no problem accepting the coupon and the BOGO together.

From talking to one of the staff though it seemed that they didn’t “stock up” and each store probably only had a couple to few dozen on hand of whatever stock they would normally have.

Too bad they didn’t stock up enough. I would have normally tried Puyallup, CoreyAnn, but I was in Tacoma, so I went to the Tacoma Mall one & they still had some left early afternoon. And they were great about it – very impressed! So, this is good to know for future sales that we can use the BOGO coupons (at least at most stores)
