Fred Meyer is having a great deal on Purex Laundry Detergent this week – you’ll definitely want to try to head on over there to stock up on some laundry detergent. I know I will be!!
Here are the details:
There is a catalina deal going on where if you buy 2 50 oz Purex you’ll get a $4 catalina and buy 3, get a $5 catalina. This catalina will be printing thru March 7th. This looks like it is the case for all Kroger stores & affiliates (Fred Meyer is an affiliate of Kroger stores). So, check out your local Kroger store (or affiliate) to see if they have a sale on Purex as well, which you can combine with this catalina deal. Let us know in the comments if you find a great deal!!
Scenario:
Buy {2} Purex 50 oz laundry detergent
Use Fred Meyer in-ad coupon to make them 2 for $1.99/ea
Use {2} $.35/1 coupons from the 1/10 Red Plum insert
Final Price: $3.28 total for 2, Receive $4 catalina when you buy 2!
FREE & moneymaker after catalina & coupons!!
**You should be able to “roll” this deal (meaning use the $4 catalina to then buy 2 more Purex detergents & so forth)…just make sure to have a few filler items since it is a slight moneymaker & they can’t owe you the extra money back.
Note: Fabulessly Frugal is reporting that some people have had problems with the catalina printing. If that’s the case, you can try talking to your Customer Service department at your store. But, most likely you will need to call the catalina company at 1-888-8COUPON if it does not print for you.
What is a catalina? For those who are new couponers, a catalina is a coupon that prints from the register after you have paid for your purchase. You can then use that coupon on a future purchase, either to come back another time (they typically expire within a few weeks) or use it on your next transaction. I like to buy the items which will have catalinas first & then use the “catalina” coupons on the rest of my purchases within that same shopping trip.

I just got the red plum in the mail today and it has a BOGO Purex coupon on the back page! Can this be used with the sale at Freddies and still qualify for the catalina?
Yes, it can, from what I’ve heard! Even better deal! Just make sure to buy the 50 oz size!!
So the FM coupon has a limit of 2, can you use 2 of those and buy 4? Will FM let you do that?
You will only want to do 2 at a time, so you get your catalina each time. I doubt you’d get the {2} $4 catalinas in 1 transaction.
There is an update, though, that this may not be working anymore due to someone abusing the system & purchasing 800 Purex bottles in Ohio!! It sounds like people in the NW have still been able to receive the catalina, but we’re not sure if they will be pulling the catalina deal soon. So, you may want to go sooner rather than later. Let us know if you had any problems!
How do you use the catalina coupon in the same day transaction? I always get those at the end with my receipt.
Nikki – I have never had a problem with cashiers (if there’s no one behind me) to have 2 transactions lined up & pay for them separately. Or you could go & put your groceries in the car & come thru the line again. It really depends on your cashier/mgr, but it’s never been a problem for me. I often do a number of transactions at Albertson’s on doubler days – I’m always very courteous & careful to get back in line if anyone comes behind me so I don’t hold up the line.
