There is a new coupon available for the Leapfrog Tag System – $5 off your purchase of 1 from Coupons.com. These were on sale around the holidays and most likely will go on sale again soon.  By the way, make sure you check out the rest of the coupons at Coupons.com. I just printed off a ton on Monday and already MANY of them have reset! Yes!! The toy coupons had all reset for me as well as the Kraft $1/2 cheese & many others!! Let us know if they reset for you, too!!

You can also find another $5 off Tag system coupon at the Leapfrog website – this can be used in stores or online at the Leapfrog store.   The expiration for both of the coupons is 4/30/10, so you have plenty of time to wait for a sale.

I have to say that we got this system for my daughter and although I’m personally not a big fan of many electronic toys – this is one toy that my daughter absolutely LOVES! Coming from my background as a Speech/Language Therapist – I personally think it’s a great educational toy (esp when used together with parents) as it asks some great comprehension questions throughout the story and at the end of the story to summarize, working on a variety of different language skills.

It definitely has not replaced reading regular books in our house – I think it’s SO important for kids to read books on their own  (I’m always amazed at the stories they  can come up with using their imagination) as well as with their parents. But, it’s a nice little extra (especially for long car rides)!  That’s just my personal opinion! :)  Did any of you buy this for your child/children recently – how do they like it?

We got the Tag System for Christmas for our daughter who had just turned 5 in Nov. I think what she likes best about it is the Learn to Read kits we got for her that contain 6 books. She loves to “read” these & feels like such a grownup & has to show everyone how she can “read.” :) The other story books aren’t that exciting to her; I thought she would love being able to read “Olivia,” “Cat in the Hat,” etc. but she’s not into them like she is the learn to read books.

And I agree…while this is a fun toy, it’s simply that…a toy. It will never compare to a parent & child reading together. I just think of it as a bonus to our regular reading routine.
