Target Shopping Trip & Deals

Target has some really great deals this week on their games – it’s the perfect time to stock up for Christmas gifts!! Can you believe Christmas is less than 100 days away?! If you take advantage of all the hot deals now, you can really save quite a bit of money this Christmas.

My shopping trip was a bit more chaotic than I was hoping as I had both girls with me and it was nearing naptime (and little did I know, they were both starting to come down with bad colds)–so they were quite grumpy! It sure did throw me off as far as trying to track down my deals and keep my coupons straight. But, I still managed to find some nice deals! (I’ll include a picture tomorrow)
First of all, I wanted to mention that my Target had school supplies marked down to 75% off including a number of backpacks (some were as low as $3.74) – unfortunately the cool kids backpacks were not on sale). They also had some additional summer items marked down to 75% as well.
Here are some of my good clearance finds:
  • 2 pack kids scissors – $.35
  • Expanding file for more coupons $.74
  • Large student planner $.98 (I just bought an almost identical one at Fred Meyer for over $4 when I was desperate for a planner)
  • 9 oz Off Bug Spray $1.48
**UPDATE: I forgot to mention earlier – they have zip-up binders 75% off as well-some as low as $3. These would be PERFECT for your coupons, if you like to keep them in a binder! Just buy a zip-up binder and then look for baseball card holders and you can put your coupons in a binder to find them much easier. My coupon buddy uses this method and she can find her coupons so quickly in the store! I’ve tried this method but at this point in my life I just don’t have as much time for putting them into the slots. But, it’s a great method!

Now, on to the great game/movie deals – I bought a number of these but since I do have family & friends who read this, I’m not going to post the pics of what I bought. Have to keep a little bit of a surprise there! ;) But, all of these game/movie deals that I’m posting worked great for me! Very easy – even for those of you who are not “couponers” – this is very simple and easy to just print out and head over to Target!
Target Tip:: Remember you can use a manufacturer’s coupon (from a coupon insert or a printable coupon) and a Target coupon together. If you’ve had any problems in the past, make sure to print out Target’s coupon policy HERE (now found online) to bring with you! A reader commented that she showed this policy to her cashier (after being told she couldn’t use both coupons) and they then allowed her to use the coupons!
Game Special this week (thru Saturday):
Buy any 1 participating Board Game and get a FREE 2 liter Pepsi and 11.5 to 14.5 oz bag of Doritos.
Participating games:
Monopoly Championship Edition $15; Hungry Hungry Hippos $15; Connect Four $15; & Bop It $15
How it works with coupons available right now::
Buy Hungry Hippos or Connect Four for $15
Buy 1 2 liter bottle of Pepsi product
Buy 1 package of Doritos
Use $4/1 Hungry Hippos or Connect Four Coupon HERE
Use $.25/1 Pepsi Coupon HERE
Final Price: $10.75 for Game, 2 liter Pepsi and bag of Doritos (I did this deal and it worked great!)

More gift ideas (games & movies):

Cranium Preschool Games – on sale for $9.99
Use Target coupon for $5 off Hasbro game (includes Cranium games, Taboo, Things, Fanglis, Electronic Catch Phrase) – found at A Full Cup – sign up here or if already member go here for Target Coupon Generator
Final price: $4.99 (These make great gifts for preschool aged kids – I stocked up!)
Hungry Hippos or Connect Four Travel Game – $4.99
Use $4/1 Hasbro coupon HERE
Final Price: $.99 – These would make great gift ideas – stocking stuffers, birthday or christmas gifts for friends/classmates
*You can print these Hasbro coupons twice (hit the back arrow and refresh). If you have access to more than one computer, or have friends/family who can print these, then you buy more than 2 and stock up!
*Tip on location: I had the hardest time finding these games – I even had an employee looking everywhere for me (luckily I’d heard they were on an end-cap so we knew what we were looking for). Turns out they were in the automotive section on an end cap! So, look there first and then try games!
Columbia “Staycation” Movies -$5 (most are priced at $5-some are a little more)
Use $2 off coupon HERE ($3 off Blu-Ray)
Final Price: $3
*Movies include: Madeline, Annie, Muppets in Space, Matilda, Hitch, Something’s Gotta Give, Little Women, Les Miserables, My Best Friend’s Wedding, & more. There are a few more than are pictured on the coupon. I bought several of these for gifts!
*You need to look for the Staycation Sticker on the movies to know which are included.
Leapfrog Tag Reading System Books – on sale for $10 (I can’t remember how much Tag Junior books were)
Use $4/1 Tag reading book or $3/1 Tag Junior Reading Book HERE
Final Price: $6
*I bought one of these books as well–but now I just need to find a great deal on the Tag reading system. Many Targets had these clearanced out a few weeks ago, but mine didn’t have any (or they were sold out).
One more *hot* deal ending Saturday at Target::
Market Pantry Single-Serve String Cheese – $.50/each
Use Target $1 off 2 coupon HERE
Final Price: FREE
(This coupon expires on Saturday–so make sure you stock up these last few days. Every time I go I have been getting a number of them, around 20/print 10 coupons off–and they still have plenty more! )
(does not include the 5 games I bought)

Here’s my shopping trip:
20 Market Pantry String Cheese -Free
1 Hasbro Game w/Free Doritos & 2 liter soda = $11
2 Cocoa Puffs cereals = $2/ea (used Target $1/2 General Mills coupon here and $1/1 and $.75/1 printable coupons) = $1.25 total
Leapfrog Tag book = $7 (used $3/1 coupon- had a different coupon, wish I’d had the $4 off)
Off bug spray(clearance) = $1.49
4 pks scissors (clearance) = $.35/each = $1.40
1 student planner (clearance) =$.99
2 Hasbro travel games = $1.98
2 Cranium games = $4.99/each = $14.97

Total: $40.08 (but I got a lot of shopping for Christmas/birthday gifts)

I guess I need to head to Target.

I tried to do the Travel Hungry Hippo for $.99 but the coupon wouldn't scan and they cashier wouldn't let me use it.

I wonder why that coupon didn't work for you Kacie? I used 4 of the coupons on there with no problem. You may just need to try a different cashier or different store sometime (they should type it in if it doesn't scan) and make sure it's in color ink! That often makes a difference! Mine often don't scan b/c I have them on fast draft, I think, so they will just enter the coupon manually.
