Home Depot occasionally has free “Do it Herself” clinics at their stores for women! They have a class available Thurs March 26th at 7-8:30pm. It is a class where you will learn to tile a room for under $200. Right now, if you sign up the for the Tiling class, you will get a $10 off coupon. I think you will get this coupon at the class although I’m not totally sure. Let me know if you hear otherwise.
Home Depot also holds Kids Clinics once a month. These are free do-it-yourself clinics designed for kids ages 5 – 12 although I’ve known people with younger kids who have also participated and had fun (just need a little more parent participation). I’m looking forward to trying one of these soon with my own daughter. They are held on the first Saturday of the month from 9am – 12pm.
Here’s the info from their website about the clinics::
The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates’ aprons, and an achievement pin.
FYI:: When I was in my local Home Depot store last Sunday, they had a sign up sheet for these classes. Typically these are drop-in classes, but at our store it looks like they’ve had such an overwhelming response, that they had to start a sign-up sheet and it’s limited to 20 kids at each time slots (they had 2 time slots in the morning). However, this may not be the case at every Home Depot–so I would definitely call your local store to find out if there’s a waiting list or if you can just show up that morning!

The upcoming clinics are::

Saturday March 7th (tomorrow): Build an HD Raceway

Saturday, April 4, 2009: Build a window birdhouse (how fun for springtime)
